One moment. One gesture. One difference.

From our first humanitarian relief effort that united individuals and organizations under one mission, to 20 years later, we’re still quietly making meaningful differences.

In 2026, we hope you’ll embrace at least one act of kindness to help lift awareness for the needs of our veterans.

Raising awareness means opening eyes to the challenges, opening hearts to the struggles, and opening doors to the support every veteran deserves.

Post. Promote. Partner. Each one is meaningful, and awareness difference‑driven. unitedrelieffoundation.org/single-act-of-kindness-campaign

A Season of Silent Struggles: Veterans and the Holidays.

For many, the holidays bring warmth and celebration. But for countless veterans, it’s a time of quiet hardship—marked by isolation, invisible wounds, and unmet needs.

This year, those burdens are heavier than ever. Rising living costs, limited access to health care, and underfunded support systems have left many veterans without the resources they need. Some face homelessness—or the looming risk of it. Others struggle to afford food, clothing, or even transportation to access care, let alone gifts or moments of joy. And for those without family, the season’s emphasis on togetherness can deepen the ache of isolation.

Let’s remain united in showing our gratitude to veterans by offering care, connection, and compassion.

United Relief Foundation's 'Tis the Season of Service campaign officially commenced on Veterans Day, November 11, with the delivery of the first in a series of donations to the National Women Veterans United. https://unitedrelieffoundation.org/tis-the-season-of-service-campaign/

September’s Su***de Prevention Awareness Month calls us to pause, connect, and act with hope, healing, and human connection at its heart.

When we are united—in strength, dignity, hope, and purpose—we become a force for life. Together, we can make a difference. This call to unity is especially urgent for our military community, where su***de rates and the number of veterans at risk remain alarmingly high.

Please reach out, speak up, and connect with your local veterans support organization.

In addition to ongoing Boots-on-the-Ground efforts during Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, the United Relief Foundation, along with our United in Service Partners and Patrons, will be engaged in several upcoming events, beginning with the September 27th Stand Down hosted by National Women Veterans United.

The Purple Heart: Honoring Sacrifice, Upholding Legacy

Every year, August 7 marks Purple Heart Day—a solemn reminder of the brave men and women who have been wounded or killed in combat. It’s a day of reverence, reflection, and gratitude. But for many of us, that recognition doesn’t begin and end with a single date. We extend it through August—and carry it with us each and every day—as a pledge to honor their sacrifice and uphold their legacy.

Dedicating August as Purple Heart Month invites us to do more than remember—it calls us to take action. https://unitedrelieffoundation.org/the-purple-heart-honoring-sacrifice-upholding-legacy/

Observed annually on July 25, National Hire a Veteran Day falls on a Friday this year—a timely reminder to honor and support the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces by championing their place in the civilian workforce.

Created in 2017 by Marine Corps veteran Dan Caporale, founder of Hire Our Heroes, July 25 is more than a calendar event—it’s a call to action.

Raising awareness for National Hire a Veteran Day is all about turning appreciation into action—and making sure both employers and the public understand the value veterans bring to the workforce.

Recognizing and Honoring Our Military Heroes.

May is National Military Appreciation Month, a time dedicated to recognizing and honoring the sacrifices and contributions of the men and women who serve in the United States Armed Forces.

Established by Congress in 1999, this month-long observance ensures that the nation takes time to express gratitude to military personnel, veterans, and their families.

The Significance of National Military Appreciation Month.

The United States has a long history of military service, with brave individuals stepping forward to defend the country and uphold its values. National Military Appreciation Month serves as a reminder of the dedication and resilience of service members, both past and present. It is also an opportunity to acknowledge the families who support them, as they, too, make significant sacrifices.

Throughout the month, several important military-related observances take place:

- - Loyalty Day (May 1st) – A day for Americans to reaffirm their loyalty to the country.
- - Military Spouse Appreciation Day (2nd Friday in May) – Recognizing the sacrifices and support of military spouses.
- - Armed Forces Day (3rd Saturday in May) – Honoring all active-duty service members.
- - Memorial Day (Last Monday in May) – A solemn day of remembrance for those who have died in military service.

April is the Month of the Military Child: A Meaningful Opportunity to Reinforce Our Values of Respect and Gratitude for All Who Serve and Have Served.

Every April, the Month of the Military Child focuses on raising awareness about the challenges children face due to their families’ service.

Including veterans’ children in the Month of the Military Child expands recognition of the unique challenges of military life experienced by all military-connected children, which includes the eventual transition of their father, mother, or both parents to civilian life.

The Month of the Military Child reminds us to take these moments—not only to celebrate military-connected children but also to support them. It’s a meaningful opportunity to help ensure they feel valued, understood, and appreciated. https://unitedrelieffoundation.org/april-is-the-month-of-the-military-child/
