Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation

The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to embracing life's challenges through cancer research and education.

The Eisenberg Foundation is unique in addressing gastrointestinal cancer research and education.

1) We raise money for gastrointestinal cancer research at Northwestern. More specifically, we fund a nurse practitioner who enables clinical research trials to occur. We recently established the first Gastrointestinal Tumor Bank in the Midwest.

2) The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation provides excitin

g opportunities for students to experience the real working world through the eyes and mind of real estate professionals.

3) Each year, the Foundation works closely with the Real Estate Program at the University of Illinois and the ICSC Foundation to award a student a full one-year scholarship to recognize outstanding achievement in the field of real estate.

Under Al’s leadership, the Mentorship Program has hosted 2250+ mentorships over 27 years (and counting!). Congratulations to our longtime partners at Lurie Cancer Center on being ranked the No. 1 cancer program in Chicago and Illinois and the only cancer program in Illinois ranked among the nation's top 10 by U.S. News & World Report!

The Eisenberg Foundation is proud to have partnered with Lurie Cancer Center for more than 27 years, and we look forward to continuing our work together to advance groundbreaking GI cancer research and make a lasting impact in the fight against GI cancer.

What a night! Last Thursday, we welcomed 160+ young professionals to Utopian Tailgate for our summer networking event, Sip & Socialize. From rooftop views to great conversations, it was the perfect evening to connect with fellow industry leaders and learn more about the Foundation's programs and volunteer opportunities.

Congratulations to our 2026 Sheila Eisenberg Scholarship recipients, Arturo Perez and Carter Davis. Arturo and Carter were each awarded a $5,000 scholarship to be applied toward higher education tuition or a professional accreditation for a program within the real estate industry. This fall, Arturo will begin his studies at UIC right here in Chicago, while Carter will be heading to Morehouse College. We are proud to support these outstanding students and can’t wait to see all that they accomplish. Congratulations, Arturo and Carter!

At our Annual Meeting, we were proud to recognize Nikki Lam with the 2026 Real Estate Education Award for her outstanding service and dedication to the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation and the Real Estate community.

As a member of our Associate Board and leader of the 2026 Real Estate Challenge, Nikki has played an instrumental role in advancing innovative real estate education and creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation of industry leaders.
