We're always thrilled to share updates like this, showing the impact adoption can make for the children and grant families we serve!

Hana was adopted with the help of a GOA grant in 2023 by Heather, who recently shared the following 3-year update:

“Hana is in a stable environment with support of friends and family who love her. She rides horses and currently dreams of being a labor and delivery nurse! She is in a home and family where she will have every resource to help her succeed.”

May is National Foster Care Month. 💜

Foster care provides critical safety and support for children during times of crisis—and for many children, adoption becomes the pathway to lasting stability and connection.

This month, join us in helping remove the financial barriers that can stand between children and permanency. Your support helps complete adoptions for children in vulnerable circumstances, including older youth, sibling groups, and children with medical or special needs.

Together, we can help more children move from waiting to belonging.

🎉 $25 MILLION.
This month, 65 families received over $425,000 in adoption assistance. And with that, Gift of Adoption crossed a milestone worth celebrating: $25 million awarded since our inception in 1996.
That number represents nearly 7,300 children now growing up in loving, permanent families.
Thank you to every donor, volunteer, and referral source who made this possible.
If Gift of Adoption has been part of your family's story, we would love to hear from you in the comments. 💛

“Adoption has brought stability, permanence, and a sense of belonging into Juan Pablo’s life in ways that were not possible before. Overall, the change has been profound: he has moved from navigating life largely on his own to being surrounded by consistent care, advocacy, and love. Your support helped remove a significant financial barrier at a critical moment in the adoption process and made it possible for Juan Pablo to join a permanent, loving home sooner. Because of this grant, he now has stability, access to education, healthcare, and daily support, and the opportunity to grow up knowing he is safe, valued, and deeply loved. Over the past six months, we have seen him gain confidence, build relationships, and begin to truly settle into family life with a sense of belonging.”

Juan Pablo was adopted from Colombia in 2025 by Richard and Guillermo with the help of a GOA grant.

A common question we hear is: "Who receives an adoption grant?"

At Gift of Adoption, the focus is on the child’s need for a home. Grants are awarded regardless of race, religion, age, or marital status. The primary criteria is the "imminence" of the adoption—meaning the family is in the final stages and has a clear financial need to get the child home.

By prioritizing the most vulnerable children—including those with medical needs, those aging out of foster care, or siblings who need to stay together—the grant process ensures that the most urgent cases move forward. Education on these priorities helps us see how targeted support can change a life story.

Happy National Sibling Day! Did you know that siblings are one of Gift of Adoption's priorities? In 2025, 21% of GOA grants united or preserved biological siblings in the same family. Lila was adopted into the same family as her older, biological sister in 2025 with the help of a GOA grant. Her parents shared, "Lila has truly been such a blessing to our family. It’s beautiful to watch her and her sister together, seeing all the ways they are alike and the special bond they share. We can’t imagine life without her. It was thanks to Gift of Adoption and the financial assistance that helped us bring Lila home.”

Happy Easter!

Luz was adopted from the USA in 2025 by Berenice and Juan. They shared, “Our daughter is the light of our lives and has filled our hearts with a love deeper than we ever imagined. We’ll never forget the moment we first held her — the joy, the tears, and the instant sense that she was always meant to be ours. Adoption didn’t just change our lives; it completed our family and gave our daughter the love, stability, and future she deserves. We are very appreciative for the Gift of Adoption grant providing us with financial assistance during this time in our lives.”
