As the leaves change and a new season begins, we’re celebrating a very special new chapter for sisters Kamah and Bendu. 🍂

After nearly four years in the international adoption process, their parents Betsy and Gordon finally welcomed the sisters home from Liberia in 2025. Along the way, monthly FaceTime calls helped them build a connection while they prepared their daughters’ rooms and dreamed of the day they could all be together.

A Gift of Adoption grant through the Carolinas Chapter helped support their adoption journey. This fall, we’re grateful for stories like theirs, and for the families, donors, and volunteers who help make new beginnings possible.

Mariah is a 16-year-old girl who has found a place to call home with grant family Stephanie and Tim of Michigan. Most teenagers who could benefit from adoption never find a permanent family. Many age out of care altogether without the kind of lasting family connection every young person deserves at any age. A grant from Gift of Adoption Michigan is helping clear the final obstacle standing between Mariah and the permanence she deserves.

The family says Mariah is, “a lovely girl. She finally feels at home and feels accepted for the first time. Mariah is very happy and feels loved. She is excited that she is finally happy and in a place where she feels safe.”

This month marks 30 years of Gift of Adoption helping children come home — and what better way to celebrate than with a Welcome Home Tote for a very special child? 💜

Meet Wilder! His adoption was completed with support made possible through fundraising efforts from the Gift of Adoption Pennsylvania Chapter, and our chapters across the country joined in the celebration by creating special Welcome Home Totes for children whose adoptions have been supported by Gift of Adoption.

We’re especially excited to spotlight the Pennsylvania, Missouri, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee Chapters, who shared photos of their beautiful totes with us! Each tote is a small but meaningful way to celebrate a child’s journey home and the incredible community that helped make it possible.

From coast to coast, our chapters, volunteers, donors, and supporters are helping make moments like Wilder’s possible. 30 years of giving the gift of family, and so many reasons to celebrate! 🎂

Rhyan was two days old when Meghan got an unexpected call and met her that very same evening. Meghan says, “Rhyan is the most amazing little girl. She is beginning to smile and coo, loves to be held and snuggled, and is a champ at tummy time.”

A grant from Gift of Adoption came at a critical moment and eased Meghan’s financial pressure, allowing her to be more present with Rhyan.

Rhyan was adopted from the U.S. in 2026.

Thirty years ago today, on August 26, 1996, Gene & Lucy Wyka founded Gift of Adoption with the idea that no child should wait for a family because the cost of adoption stood in the way.

Since that day, Gift of Adoption has been a part of 7,507 adoptions of children from around the world. We are the oldest and largest nondiscriminatory provider of adoption assistance in the U.S., with 30 volunteer-led chapters throughout the country.

Thank you to every family who let us join their adoption journey, every adoption professional who made a referral, every volunteer who helped build a chapter, and every donor who believed this cause worthy of their generosity.

Our next 30 years starts tomorrow.

August, who his moms call Gus, was adopted from the U.S. in 2026 by Texas grant family Brittany and Constance.

The family says, “Gus, is a happy, curious baby. He loves whales and always picks the whale card out of his high contrast card set during tummy time. Bath time is a big hit as well. He is best friends with our mini dachshund, who has followed him everywhere from the minute we brought him home. They cuddle together and she is currently trying to teach him to play ball."

A grant from Gift of Adoption helped Brittany and Constance give August the stable, loving start he needs.

Jailynn was adopted from the U.S. in 2026 by Wisconsin grant family Rebecca and Jason soon after she was born, welcomed into a family that had been waiting for her all along.

“Jailynn is the sweetest little girl. Her smile lights up the room, and she is so loved by everyone. She will be given opportunities to experience life to the fullest, and we will help her reach her dreams.”

A grant from Gift of Adoption helped make it possible for Jailynn to come home.

“Our sweet little Holland has already had so much growth since we picked him up and since we have been home. His balance is more stable, his speech has begun to develop, his bond with his siblings has grown, his love for animals is still growing! He absolutely wonderful and we couldn’t love him anymore! We are just so grateful that there are such generous people and groups of people that do so much good with their money. We want them to know that this grant was such a blessing to receive, and we are forever grateful that their hearts had the calling to help adoptive families with the financial burden that adoption can bring. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Holland was adopted from India in 2026 by Jill and Tyler with the help of a GOA grant. 💜
