The trail is passable! ALL of the downed trees have been cleared!
A HUGE thank you to everyone that contributed!
We will be working to mow and continue to clear debris and cut back branches.
NOW, get out there and ENJOY! 😀

WE ARE AWARE...
There are several trees down, blocking the trail. The storm that came through our area brought very strong and damaging winds.
The Erie trail is maintained 100% by volunteers, many that live in the area and have sustained damage to their own property needing attention. We will be addressing the trail issues as quickly as possible.
Please feel free to volunteer, or simply assist by pushing branches off the trail if you are able!
Thank you.

Another Prairie Trails Club dinner for the Warrior Expedition riders. The gentleman on the left in the second picture is 77 years old, a combat veteran who is bicycling across America! The first image shows the trekkers thanking Walter Block (also a veteran) for his family’s generous donation of land at English Lake to support the trail.

There is ample evidence that trails bring health and economic benefits to the communities that support them! Today a man rode through North Judson on his way from Denver to Philadelphia. These trekkers stop for meals, equipment, and supplies as they pass through.

The report, Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick at 20: Connecting People, Places, and Possibility, was based on analysis by James Lima Planning + Development, a group of real estate, planning and economic development advisors.

The first of six combat veterans from the Warrior Expeditions came through North Judson on the Erie Trail (which is part of the Great American Rail Trail) today. Mary Montigny was a delightful guest, and we were happy to host her last night. Five more veterans are scheduled to ride through on their 3800 mile trek from Washington DC to Washington State as part of their therapy for PTSD. Prairie Trails Club members are honored to support these heroes!!! And thanks to the children from St. Peter Lutheran School (and their teacher, Mrs. Skibbe) for the great welcoming signs. Annette & Jim Skibbe get up at daybreak to put out the signs every morning, and the Warriors love them!

Thanks to a generous grant from The Hive, the Prairie Trails Club has received and placed three portable restrooms with hand sanitizers on the Erie Trail!!! One is near The Sun Arch at Main Street in North Judson, another is on the west side of CR 100 W, and the third is on the west side of US 35. The comfort stations will be serviced weekly and will remain on the Trail until October 1, 2026. Thanks to the Starke County Community Foundation, an affiliate and branch of the Northern Indiana Community Foundation, and to The Hive members for their support of this project.

Thanks to everyone who came to Prairie Trails Club’s 5kRun/3kWalk in North Judson yesterday! Our participants did a great job and reported that they love the new trail mile. Thanks to Hill Excavating for getting the trail extension ready for the race.

PLEASE NOTE that the new trail extension is not yet officially open, as there are amenities and other features that have not been placed! Stay tuned for our Grand Opening later this summer.
