In the spirit of yesterday, we celebrate all the fathers and father figures dedicated to building a better future for their children, including Habitat homeowner Yvon.

Before partnering with Habitat, Yvon and his children lived in a place that, although in good condition, was not theirs to call their own. As someone with low income, Yvon relied on housing assistance to put a roof over his family's head. However, he was ready to take the next step.

"I want to build a stable future for myself and my family," Yvon said when he first came to Habitat. "Owning a home would give us independence, security, and something to be proud of." Now, Yvon and his family have a stable and affordable home to call their own. Congratulations!πŸ’™πŸŽ‰

At Habitat for Humanity, we envision a world where everyone has a decent place to live. More than that, we dream of a world with one shared humanity. But we don’t just dream about these things; we believe in them, and we fight for them daily. This , we celebrate freedom and re-declare our commitment to building a fairer and more equitable world.

Reminder: In observance of Juneteenth, all Habitat sites will be closed on June 19th.

Before partnering with Habitat, Alejandro and Elaine were renting a cramped two-bedroom house shared by five adults and one child. With such limited space, the mother and son had to keep their belongings packed away.

It wasn't until they learned about Habitat that they finally saw a path to making their dream of homeownership a reality. As Cuban immigrants, Alejandro and Elaine overcame countless hardships, but through it all, they never lost their faith. "We have been building our new lives and working hard to make our dreams a reality," they said when they first came to Habitat.

Thanks to the generosity of Shadow Wood Country Club, Alejandro and Elaine have now achieved their dream of affordable homeownership, allowing them the stability to build a better future. Congratulations, Alejandro and Elaine!πŸŽ‰Welcome home.πŸ’™

Since April 1, 2000, Becky Lucas has been devoted to Habitat for Humanity.

For 26 years, Becky’s passion for serving others has known no bounds, and we're so grateful for her leadership, kindness, and unwavering commitment. Today marks her final day serving as CEO of Habitat, and we'd like to celebrate the incredible legacy she leaves behind.

As Becky has often said, it has been a privilege to share this mission alongside so many dedicated people. But the privilege has truly been ours. We are grateful and blessed to have served alongside her and to carry forward the legacy she has helped build over the past 26 years. Thank you, Becky, and many blessings on your next adventure!πŸ’™πŸŽ‰

Making dreams come true!πŸŽ‰πŸ‘

This , we're celebrating all of the individuals and families who have reached the life-changing milestone of affordable homeownership through Habitat. We're also excited to close our 54th home of the fiscal year this month, helping even more local families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.

Every home closed represents a dream realized and the foundation for a brighter future. Thank you to all the donors, volunteers, and partners who help make these moments possible.πŸ’™

For five years, Markeshia and her five children lived in a two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment. As their family outgrew the space, Markeshia dreamed of a home where each of them, including herself, could thrive. Now, that dream has become a reality. "I'm so excited, thankful, and grateful for it all," Markeshia shared at her home dedication. "I thank God for this."

Markeshia's home is especially meaningful because it's the first Habitat for Humanity home completed in Clewiston in over a decade.πŸŽ‰ City of LaBelle Commissioner and Habitat board member, Hugo Vargas, presented Markeshia with a symbolic key to her home, engraved with the word "strength." "Strength is exactly what you've shown your children by going through this process and being able to provide for them," Commissioner Vargas said. "This key signifies the strength that you can have together as a family. Congratulations!"

Markeshia officially closed on her home the same day it was dedicated. Welcome home, Markeshia!πŸ’šπŸ‘

Before partnering with Habitat, brother and sister Carlos and Maria lived in a small, older rental home that was overcrowded and poorly maintained. Carlos and Maria dreamed of homeownership, but felt it was out of reach with their individual incomes. That's when they decided to come together to provide a better life for their family.

"A Habitat for Humanity home would give us the stability we have been lacking and allow us to invest in our future and our community," they shared when they first came to Habitat.

Today, thanks to the generosity of Bonita Bay Community Association, that dream has become a reality. To reach this milestone, Carlos and Maria completed 300 sweat equity hours, attended more than 20 hours of homeownership education courses, and paid $2,000 in closing costs, all while working full-time.

Congratulations, Carlos and Maria! Welcome home.πŸ‘πŸ’™
