🔥 Serving Norristown & Our Surrounding Communities 🔥

Over the past two weeks, members of IAFF Local 2335 have responded to and extinguished multiple working fires — both here in Norristown and while assisting our neighboring communities through mutual aid.

Our members continue to answer the call day and night, working alongside our brothers and sisters from surrounding departments to protect lives, homes, and businesses throughout the area.

Whether the call is in Norristown or assistance is needed across municipal lines, our members remain committed to being there when our communities need us.

With the recent fire activity, we also want to remind everyone of a few important fire safety tips:

🚨 Test your smoke alarms and make sure there is a working alarm on every level of your home and near sleeping areas.

🔋 Replace batteries when needed, and replace smoke alarms that are more than 10 years old.

🚪 Close before you doze. A closed bedroom door can help slow the spread of smoke, heat, and fire.

🏠 Have an escape plan. Know two ways out when possible, establish a meeting place outside, and practice your plan with everyone in your household.

🔥 Never leave cooking unattended and keep anything that can burn away from stovetops and other heat sources.

🔌 Avoid overloading outlets and extension cords, and replace damaged electrical cords.

If there is a fire: Get out, stay out, and call 911. Never go back inside a burning building.

We’re proud to serve the residents of Norristown and proud to stand alongside our neighboring fire departments when they need us.

Today, shortly before noon, “B” Platoon was dispatched to the 600 block of East Basin Street for a reported dwelling fire in our first due. Assistant 27 arrived to find a fire in the rear with extension to the first and second floors.

Squad 27 arrived as the first due engine, establishing their own water supply, and stretching initial attack lines. Quint 27 arrived as the first due ladder and completed searches, ventilation, and laddering the building. Initial crews held damage largely to the fire unit and were able to quickly place the fire under control. As always, thank you to our dedicated mutual aid partners for their assistance.

🇺🇸 Never Forget — September 11, 2001

Today, IAFF Local 2335 pauses to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and all those whose lives were forever changed.

We especially honor the 343 FDNY firefighters who answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice. They climbed the stairs while thousands were making their way to safety — fulfilling the promise every firefighter makes to be there when others need us most.

We also remember the firefighters, first responders, recovery workers, and others who have lost their lives in the years since from illnesses related to their service at Ground Zero.

Twenty-five years later, their courage, sacrifice, and brotherhood have not been forgotten.

343. Never Forgotten.

🚒 Happy Labor Day from IAFF Local 2335! 🇺🇸

While many are enjoying the holiday with family and friends, firefighters and other first responders across the country are on duty, ready to answer the call.

Labor Day is also a time to recognize the history of organized labor. The AFL and CIO joined together in 1955, bringing millions of union workers together under one federation and continuing the fight for safer workplaces, fair wages, and better working conditions.

Those efforts have had a lasting impact on the fire service as well. Through organized labor, firefighters have fought for safer staffing, better equipment, fair pay and benefits, and protections for those who put their lives on the line serving their communities.

Local 2335 is proud to be part of that tradition and proud to stand alongside our union brothers and sisters.

From the members of IAFF Local 2335, have a safe and happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸🚒
