It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry West. Terry joined the Sarkeys Foundation Board of Trustees in 1994 and became a Lifetime Trustee in 2002.

Throughout his many years of service, Terry played an instrumental role in advancing the Foundation's mission to improve the quality of life in Oklahoma. During his tenure, the Foundation awarded more than $113.5 million to nonprofits across the state.

As a proud supporter of his hometown, Terry also helped direct more than $400,000 in grants to nonprofits serving the Shawnee community.

Terry's leadership, wisdom, and commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on our organization and on countless communities throughout Oklahoma. We are deeply grateful for his service and the legacy he leaves behind.

We will miss Terry dearly and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

Terry Wayne West passed from this earth on June 6, 2026 at his home, surrounded by family, after a years long battle with cancer. Terry was born in Ada, OK, on July 3, 1938, to Carl and Marie West. Our Program Officers are heading to Enid next Wednesday, May 13, for our Traveling Grant Application Seminar at Autry Technology Center.

This session is designed to support Oklahoma nonprofits as they explore funding opportunities with Sarkeys Foundation. We’ll walk through LOI requirements and the grant application process, and share insight into how organizations can best position their work for consideration.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions directly to our Program Officers. Lunch will be provided. Space is limited, so please register using the link in our bio.
