Since 1981, the Foodbank, a member of Feeding America™ and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks, has been providing food for hungry people throughout Southeastern Virginia and on the Eastern Shore. In our mission to lead the effort to eliminate hunger in our community, the Foodbank has distributed over 272 million pounds of food equating to over 226.8 million meals throughout our 4,745 square mil

e service area, which includes the cities of Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Franklin and Virginia Beach as well as the counties of Southampton, Northampton, Sussex, Isle of Wight and Accomack. During the 2013-2014 fiscal year, the Foodbank distributed over 18.6 million pounds of food equating to over 15.5 million meals to the community.

Take us out to the ball game !⚾️🎶

Foodbank staff, Partner Agency representatives, and their families enjoyed a night at a Norfolk Tides game together. It is our annual way of saying thank you to the incredible agencies who work alongside us to fight hunger in our community.

Please join us in welcoming Kathryn Ginsberg to her new role as Chief Operating Officer!

Kathryn joined the Foodbank in 2025 as Partner Support Coordinator and quickly became an important part of our work with partner agencies and teams across the organization. Now, as COO, she is helping lead operational improvements that strengthen how we move food and resources throughout our region.

A certified Project Management Professional and Agile Certified Practitioner, Kathryn brings more than a decade of experience in program management, strategic planning and cross-functional leadership.

Originally from Pasco, Washington, Kathryn is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry with a minor in computer science and mathematics.

We’re excited to have Kathryn take on this new role and help guide the Foodbank’s operations as we continue working to better serve our neighbors across Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore.

Big thanks to our friends at the Norfolk Tides for stepping up to volunteer with us at the St. Paul's Mobile Pantry last week! 🚗

From the ballpark to the pantry line, the Tides showed up to help with preparation and to get food into the hands of neighbors who need it. It takes a team effort to fight hunger in our community and we're grateful to have players like this on our side.

• Stay in your vehicle and keep it in park.
• End phone calls and wait to be called forward.

Distribution dates and times are subject to change. Please check our social media pages for the most current information.

*This site is managed by a partner agency. The Foodbank provides food and delivery and may assist with volunteer recruitment. The partner agency is responsible for all on-site operations, including volunteer supervision, safety, and distribution.
