EVAN awarded $5000.00 grant from Broadway Cares
Grant to be used for Meal Programs
Norfolk, VA - March 14, 2012 -.. EVAN (Eastern Virginia AIDS Network) has been awarded $5000.00 in grant money from Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, based in New York City. This national grant is designated for food service and meal delivery programs
Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS is one of the nation's leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations. By drawing upon the talents, resources and generosity of the American theatre community, since 1988 BC/EFA has awarded over $110 million for essential services for people with AIDS and other critical illnesses across the United States.
"This is wonderful news!" commented Shelley Taylor-Donahue, executive director of EVAN, "With all the funding cutbacks happening, this money will help us meet the nutritional needs of our clients."
EVAN provides a meal program that services over 1240 clients throughout the year.
"We partner with the Food Bank, Food Lion, Kroger and local restaurants like Taco Bell and KFC and also New Life Metropolitan Community (MCC) church," said Taylor-Donahue, "and we provide in excess of 200 cooked/prepared meals each month. We operate our Meals Program at two agency offices, Norfolk and Newport News."
EVAN has offices in Norfolk, Newport News and Williamsburg and has been providing HIV/AIDS services and programs throughout Eastern Virginia for over thirty years.
EVAN (Eastern Virginia AIDS Network), D.B.A TACT is a private non-profit organization whose purpose is to support and maintain the best quality of life for persons infected and affected by HIV and to reduce the overall incidence of HIV infection by providing education and information to the general public.
