The Association of Black Women Historians is excited to invite you to our 47th Annual Luncheon during ASALH 2026!

This year’s theme, “Creative Resistance: The Art of Black Women’s History,” celebrates the power of Black women to preserve, interpret, and reimagine our histories through scholarship and artistic expression.

Join us for a special conversation with the incomparable Dr. Nell Irvin Painter as we celebrate the artistic evolution of one of our field’s most influential historians and honor the 20th anniversary of Creating Black Americans: African American History and Its Meanings, 1619 to the Present.

The Association of Black Women Historians will hold elections for vacant leadership positions from June 1–15, 2026.

As we continue to grow and strengthen our leadership community, we invite active members to nominate themselves or fellow members whose talents, vision, and commitment can help shape the future of ABWH.
