There’s something especially heartbreaking about seeing an 8 year old dog in a shelter. Especially one like Breezy, who is only now beginning to discover some of the simple joys of being a dog.
When Breezy first arrived, she wasn’t quite sure what to make of any of this. She would retreat inside her kennel rather than come forward, and so many of the little things most dogs take for granted seemed unfamiliar to her.
So we gave her time.
And little by little, Breezy’s personality began to shine through. A gentle girl, a sweet girl, a happy girl. You can’t help but look into her eyes and see just how much she wants to love and be loved. ❤️
Now she comes forward for treats. She gets excited when she realizes it’s her turn to come out. She loves attention, hugs, and pets. One of her favorite things to do is reach out and give you her paw. And every one of those seemingly small moments feels pretty big when you remember where she started.
Breezy has already spent too much of her life in a kennel when she should have a favorite spot on the couch, a predictable routine, and someone whose footsteps she recognizes coming through the door.
