Niagara Falls Firefighters Christmas Toy Fund We are a 501c3 Charity serving the Niagara Falls area for 97 years, made up entirely of off-duty NFFD Firefighters and Officers and our families and friends.

Our other fundraisers include an Annual 5k/10k Charity Run, Summerest music festival, Firefighter and Child logo sales, Black Friday Boot Brigade on NF Blvd and Military Road and our yearly letter drive. With all of our fundraisers, close to 95% of proceeds are used to buy new Christmas Toys and winter clothes for impoverished children in the Niagara Falls Area, and to provide a festive holiday luncheon for residents of nursing homes in the area. We are a 90 + year old 501c3 Charity made up entirely of off-duty NFFD Firefighters and Officers and our families and friends. All proceeds from all of our events are used to buy new Christmas Toys and winter clothes for impoverished children in the Niagara Falls Area, as well as to host area nursing home residents for a festive Holiday luncheon each year

Great to see this. Evan has worked for years producing our annual telethon. We look forward to watching all of his future accomplishments. Congratulations to all of the Niagara Falls High Schools scholarship awardees!

Last night, Mr. Strangio presented the Memories in Media Scholarship on behalf of Rich Meranto and the committee to Evan Garcia.

The Memories in Media scholarship is in memory of Joe Swartz. Joe was a 2007 graduate who passed away in 2020. He did everything in the OSC and was pivotal in making the OSC active in our community. His legacy was his desire for the OSC to support the community he loved so much.

Evan deserved this award for his dedication to the media program for four years through making fantastic content, writing scripts as well as attending countless events within the district and community. He continues the legacy that Joe created for the Media Program.

Last evening, at the fire departments annual ball and awards dinner at the Doubletree, Chairman Vincent Orsi and the Toy fund presented the 2026 Toy fund award to the Niagara Falls High School media department. This was in recognition of the work Mr. Strangio and the students do producing our annual Toy fund telethon in December. As we’ve said many times, this is a year round event that the students work on, and we could not put it on to the public without the work they do. We’re back! The Toy Fund will be going green this weekend for city St Paddy’s Day celebrations. Firefighters will be out Saturday from 1:30-430 at the Conference Center at the Hibernians annual St Oateicks Day Party. We will be at the entrance collecting with the boot, so come by and say hello.
Afterwards on Saturday, from 5-8, we will be doing a bar brigade on buffalo Avenue as part of the Bar District’s annual St. Paddy’s bar crawl.

Wednesday’s warm clothing drive concluded the 2025 Toy Fund season. Thank you to all the firefighters, retirees and their families for the work in making this year a success. Toy Fund logos are still out at local establishments so feel free to continue to donate towards next years fundraising.

Thank you Rob for coming out today in this weather to get these photos.

It’s important that the public sees where their donations go and the amount of toys and clothing purchased. 100% of funds raised by the Toy Fund go to needy families. All of the work being done in the pictures and throughout the year is done voluntarily.

Dr. Fauzia Khan, Public Health Director extends sincere thanks to the Niagara Falls Fire Department and Children with Special Needs Care Service Coordinators for their generosity and dedication.
Each year, NCDOH Early Intervention Service Coordinators proudly partner with the Niagara Falls Firefighter Toy Fund to bring holiday joy and support to families in need. Service Coordinators work hand-in-hand with the fire department and families to arrange toy pickups and ensure gifts are delivered before the holidays.

Today was our annual toy packing/distribution day. We will have more photos up later showing the fruits of the fundraising we do throughout the year.

During this past weekends telethon, we spent a lot of time discussing the help we receive from our firefighting families and especially the younger generation that wants to help our charity.

The Toy Fund is very proud of the work many, many of our children contribute to help us provide a better Christmas for local families. These kids from many local schools took things out of their day to help us get today’s toy distribution completed.

Thank you to all the family members that help this great charity.
