Photographing the eye of a horse is no easy task. It also requires treats 🥕

Sparky’s eye ulcer is healing slowly, and we will continue to treat it for quite some time. And provide treats 🍬🐴

10/05/2026

Our little man, Sparky, has developed an ulcer on his left eye. He receives 3 different eye ointments daily for the next couple of weeks at a minimum. His vet will be returning tomorrow to evaluate the treatment effectiveness. Sparky is incredibly tolerant of the medication application…such a good boy! 💜🐴💙

We’re at Ashcombe today from 10-2. Come visit us for holistic items, dog & cat toys, beautiful handmade bird houses, and information on volunteering with us. Hope to see you soon!! 💜🐴💙

HAY! I wanted to reach out to ALL the wonderful people who donated to our $1000 double donation challenge. Because of YOU, we met that challenge—THANK YOU!!

You can imagine how much hay we require here; a constant expense I hear. All I know personally is I appreciate a full belly (and YES…I AM, ever so slightly, big-boned).

Thank you to everyone who contributes your time, prayers, and hard-earned money because you believe us worthy.

With sincere love and appreciation,
Blazer 💜🐴💙

TWO FOR TUESDAY!! Please read and share!

We have been offered a matching donation challenge!! Each dollar donated will be doubled by an anonymous donor up to $1000! DOUBLE your impact for the horses at Rock Run. All funds are applied directly to the animals as we are a 100% volunteer 501 c 3 nonprofit organization. **We have only 2 weeks for the challenge to be successful**

Please mail a check to Rock Run Equine Sanctuary, PO Box 272, Newville, PA 17241. We also have a PayPal account; our email address is [email protected].

More Two for Tuesday news...long-time previously personally-owned, boarded horses at the farm have now become part of the Rock Run herd. Blazer (white) and Windsor (Brown and white) are in their 20's with a myriad of health concerns. Caring for the elders is what Rock Run does best! Please welcome them into your hearts and consider sponsoring Blazer or Windsor on a monthly basis. They are the sweetest horses!

ATTENTION—we have had another false post regarding t-shirt sales. If anyone comments on one of our posts selling t-shirts, it is a scam. This is difficult to keep up with and happens frequently. Please let me know if you get tagged in one of these scams along with the date of the post so I can report it. What an frustrating waste of time!

WELCOME, SPRING!! Seeing the daffodils emerge is delightful. I looked at them awhile…really looked. We placed a pile of twigs from the yard on top of the then hidden daffodil bulbs last fall. Winter kept them buried darkness and snow in addition to the twigs. Unnoticed, they adapted in a most resilient manner to eventually reach sunlight. They didn’t give up even though that would have been the easier path. They quietly kept growing, rearranging, striving, and accepting the change in conditions. They will bloom soon.

LIFE. The only constant is change. 💜

I went to get feed at Knisely's Pet and Farm Center this afternoon. What a great surprise donation awaited me at the store from Cumberland County 4-H! Kitty litter, fly spray, vet wrap, and hoof picks…all necessary items. Thank you, 4-H!!! 💙🐴💜

Who wouldn't want a miniature horse?☺️

🐴The popular attraction in Gettysburg, known for its miniature horses, has closed as the owners retire. An auction is scheduled for February 28 to find new homes for 30 miniature horses and other farm animals. The auction has attracted national interest, with several bids already placed.
