Spread across six acres the Arboretum displays multiple mixed border beds, two water features, a trellis garden, a gazebo, and over 180 individual trees and shrubs. The Arboretum is also home to the Daniel J Krumm Horticultural Center that serves as a gathering place for celebrations, receptions, meetings, and educational seminars. In 2020, managed by Project AWAKE, the Newton Arboretum & Botanical Garden began a revitalization project of the grounds that will span the next several years.

Check out the new flooring in the Krumm Center! 😍
Thanks to the Floor Some Sugar On Me Fundraiser, organized and hosted by the Alta House Event Center and a few anonymous donors who wanted to help get this project completed, we were able to achieve a much needed upgrade in the Krumm Center!

THE GOOD:
Everything is blooming and looks amazing! I knew we would get rain because the peonies were just starting - in Iowa we always get rain on the peonies.

THE BAD:
Damage at the stream. Someone thought breaking up the limestone slabs and hauling the pieces upstream was a good idea. FYI - it's not. Don't do it. We are reviewing our video footage. It's called destruction of property/vandalism.

A large dead garter snake in the middle of the sidewalk is also suspicious. Leave the wildlife alone! The snakes on the grounds are beneficials.

And finally, DISPOSE OF TRASH PROPERLY. There are 4 trash receptacles and a dumpster for garbage disposal at the Arboretum. The ground is not a trash can. You are littering.
