🚨 WE ARE BEGGING. PLEADING. BASICALLY BEGGING ON OUR KNEES. 🚨
Sampson needs a home. Like… REALLY needs a home. And unfortunately, we know we’re asking for a little bit of a unicorn here. 🦄🐕🦺
Sampson is a 5-year-old, approximately 60 lb black Lab who is currently convinced that his foster mama is the greatest human to ever walk the earth. He would happily spend his days following her around, playing ball, and then collapsing dramatically onto the couch for a 14-hour nap. Honestly, he has his priorities figured out. 😂
He is kennel trained, potty trained, and LOVES his people. He is also the perfect 60-lb snuggling size because apparently Labs were designed specifically to take up an entire couch while somehow believing they are lap dogs.
Now for the part where we admit that Sampson is not exactly the easiest dog to place.
Sampson has been working hard on his leash skills and can be reactive toward other dogs while on leash. He also tends to resource his food, so he needs a home where he can be the only dog OR where his humans are willing to be extremely consistent and strict about feeding separately and monitoring him.
Today, we did a meet-and-greet with two dogs to see what Sampson was actually like around other dogs. And honestly? He surprised us. He was VERY reactive on leash, but once everyone was calm and he was able to run around in a large fenced yard, he was completely fine with both dogs — one male and one female. He even tolerated them sniffing him without a care in the world.
And the volunteers' 11-year-old son? Sampson basically said, “Cool kid, I guess,” and went right back to exploring, running around, playing, and making sure he knew exactly where his foster mama was at all times. 😂
So yes… Sampson has some quirks. He needs an adult home without young children, and ideally he would be your one-and-only four-legged family member. He needs someone willing to continue working with him, understand his boundaries, and give him the structure he needs to succeed.
And we KNOW how this looks.
He’s black.
He’s 5.
He needs to be an only pet.
He has some leash reactivity.
He has some food-resource guarding.
He has all of the strikes against him....
Basically, Sampson's adoption application is sitting there like, “Please lower your expectations.” 😂
But here’s the thing… Sampson is NOT a bad dog. He is a dog who needs the RIGHT person. Somewhere out there is someone who doesn't care that he isn't perfect. Someone who sees a goofy, loyal, ball-obsessed, couch-loving Lab who just wants his own person. Someone who will give him the structure, patience, boundaries, and love he needs. Someone who will choose HIM.

If you are an experienced dog owner who understands that rescue dogs aren't always perfect on day one, and you have an adult-only home where Sampson can be your one-and-only, PLEASE APPLY TO ADOPT HIM.

Be his someone.
