💜 Flo Update 💜

After an MRI with our friends at BluePearl DesMoines, Flo was diagnosed with a herniated disc. The good news is that at this time, she does not need emergency surgery. Yay!!!

For now, Flo is on very strict rest along with several medications to help keep her comfortable and allow her spine time to heal. Her incredible foster mom has been absolutely amazing through all of this, keeping Flo on a strict medication schedule and dedicating so much of her time to making sure Flo gets the care and support she needs every single day.

Flo will have a recheck in approximately 6 weeks, which will help determine how we move forward from here. If she is cleared at that time, we will finally be able to address her ears with the TECA surgery she so desperately needs.

Unfortunately, because of her spinal injury, Flo cannot safely undergo the TECA procedure right now. During surgery she would need to be manipulated and positioned in ways that could potentially cause further injury to her spine, so her back healing must come first.

Despite everything she has been through, Flo continues to be the sweet, loving little Frenchie we all know and adore — and she is still 100% obsessed with her foster mom ❤️ Over the holiday weekend, Flo even got to visit her foster mom’s parents’ house where everyone absolutely fell in love with her! She even had an adorable sign on her kennel reminding everyone that while she may be feeling better, she still needs to take it easy. How cute is that?!

We truly cannot thank our supporters enough. Every like, share, comment, donation, and word of encouragement means more than you know. The amount of love and support Flo has received has been incredible, and we are forever grateful.

Most importantly, Flo is grateful too — because without people like you, she would not be on the path toward a pain-free life. 💕

Tonight our hearts are incredibly heavy as we share the devastating news that sweet Roxy has crossed the rainbow bridge. 💔

Roxy touched the hearts of everyone who met her, but no one loved her more fiercely than her amazing mom, Roswell. She stood by Roxy’s side every single step of the way, advocating for her, comforting her, and ensuring she always knew love, safety, and compassion.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who kept Roxy in their thoughts and prayers throughout her journey. A very special thank you to Critter Crusaders of Cedar Rapids for helping fund her medical care and giving her every possible chance, and to Roswell for her endless dedication and unconditional love during such a difficult and emotional journey.

Cases like Roxy’s remind us how important rescue, community, and compassion truly are. While our hearts are broken, we are thankful Roxy knew nothing but love until the very end.

Run free, sweet Roxy girl. You will always be loved, always remembered, and never forgotten. 🌈🐾

🚨 Emergency Situation — Flo Needs Your Help 🚨

Flo originally entered our rescue program in need of a bilateral TECA surgery, but over the weekend she developed a serious new medical issue that is now taking priority.

Our friends at Ankeny Animal and Avian Clinic evaluated Flo on Saturday after she began showing signs of severe back pain, something unfortunately common in French Bulldogs. Her incredible foster mom has been keeping her on strict rest, staying by her side around the clock and doing everything possible to keep her comfortable.

Despite medications, rest, and supportive care, Flo’s condition has significantly worsened this morning. She has not eaten or drank anything in two days, and her pain is becoming increasingly severe.

At this time, we are urgently transporting Flo to BluePearl Des Moines for a neurological consultation.

These cases are often extremely costly, frequently requiring advanced imaging such as an MRI, which alone can cost approximately $4,000 — and that does not include the possibility of surgery or hospitalization afterward.

This is not something we expected, and we still do not have enough donations to cover Flo’s original TECA procedure. But right now, this takes priority. Flo deserves every chance possible, and giving up on her is simply not an option.

We are asking for your help once again. Every donation, share, and prayer truly matters right now as we try to get Flo the emergency care she desperately needs.

Please help us fight for Flo. ❤️

💔 Flo Still Needs Your Help 💔

First, we want to say thank you to everyone who has shared, donated, and supported Flo so far. We are incredibly grateful for the love this tiny girl has received. So far, we have raised just shy of $200, but unfortunately we are still a long way from where we need to be.

After speaking with BluePearl, Flo’s bilateral TECA surgery is estimated at approximately $6,300. With several medical dogs currently in our rescue system and funds stretched very thin, we must raise the full amount before we are able to schedule her surgery.

In the meantime, Flo is becoming increasingly painful despite her medications. Her incredible foster mom (hopefully forever mom 😉) has created a detailed medication chart and is doing everything possible to keep her comfortable while we work toward getting her the care she desperately needs.

And through all of this? Flo continues being Flo. She has been enjoying walks in her very own stroller and even made a trip to the farmers market (check out the pictures!) where absolutely everyone fell in love with our sweet little girl. Despite the pain she lives with every day, she still has so much love to give.

We know times are hard for everyone right now, but every single dollar truly matters. If you can’t donate, you can still help in a huge way by:

🐾 Sharing this post
🐾 Liking and commenting to help it reach more people
🐾 Tagging friends and family who may want to help

Viewer discretion is advised, as some of the photos may be difficult to see. Unfortunately, this is Flo’s reality right now, and this is why we are fighting so hard for her.

Please help us get Flo one step closer to living a pain-free life. She deserves the chance to be comfortable, happy, and finally free from the constant pain she has been living with. ❤️

Four sweet senior Bichons joined Paws-N-Claws Iowa today after being surrendered by a commercial breeder, and they need foster homes ❤️

We have 2 girls and 2 boys, all around 8–9 years old. These dogs have never lived in a real home before, so everything is new to them — soft beds, TV noises, stairs, leashes, and learning what it means to just be a dog.

They are not house trained and will need patient foster homes with confident, friendly resident dogs to help show them the ropes. A calm environment, consistency, and understanding will go a long way for these babies.

Watching dogs like these learn to trust and experience a home for the first time is one of the most rewarding things imaginable. They may be seniors, but they still deserve the chance to finally know comfort, safety, and family. 🐾

If you can foster, please message Paws-N-Claws Iowa or submit a foster application at pnciowa.org

Even temporary fosters make a huge difference💙

🖤 Meet Sampson 🖤

This handsome guy is still searching for his perfect forever home 🏡

Sampson is an approximately 5-year-old neutered black Lab who is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and completely house trained. His foster mom says he’s an absolute sweetheart and the definition of a “momma’s boy” 🥹 He loves being close to his person at all times and just wants to be wherever you are.

His biggest obsession? 🎾 TENNIS BALLS 🎾
Seriously… this boy lives for them. In fact, he won’t even go outside for potty breaks unless you toss the ball first 😂

Sampson has settled beautifully into foster care and has earned free roam of the house while his foster mom is at work because he does so well. Like many dogs, he had a couple accidents during transition, but he quickly adjusted and has been fantastic since.

Sampson is looking for a home where he can be the one and only pet. He does resource guard and is not a fan of other dogs, so he would thrive most as your spoiled, beloved only child ❤️ Because of this, he also needs a home without young children. He has done well with older, teenage children.

If you’re looking for a loyal best friend, a constant shadow, and a tennis-ball-fetching champion, Sampson may just be your perfect match.

Our friends at Spock's Sanctuary have suffered a devastating loss after a fire tore through their facility, claiming the lives of over 20 animals and leaving more than 140 without everything they knew. No enclosures, no hides, no proper heating or lighting—just the Tupperware containers used to save them.

While we specialize in dogs, our hearts are completely broken for the founders and volunteers who have dedicated their lives to caring for these incredible animals. We know reptiles aren’t for everyone, but they matter. They have their place in this world, and they are deeply loved.

We cannot begin to imagine what the Spock’s team is going through, but we are hopeful we can come together as a community to support them during this unimaginable time.

Right now, they are in urgent need of supplies and are working to secure a storage facility. In the meantime, one of our volunteers—who is currently fostering a few of these displaced animals—has offered her garage as a temporary donation drop-off site.

If you are able to donate supplies, please message us for drop-off information.

If you can donate financially, even better—every dollar makes a difference. Proper reptile care is incredibly expensive, and Spock’s Sanctuary has always stepped up for animals in need.

If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this post. It truly takes a village.

🐾 Meet Hoppy — our one-of-a-kind girl who’s been waiting far too long 🐾

We don’t have many cats in our rescue, which makes it even more important that we find the perfect home for this special lady 💛

Hoppy is almost 5 years old and has been patiently waiting in foster with PNC for three years. Three years without a place to truly call her own… and we think it’s finally her time.

Born with her adorable little “T-Rex” arms, Hoppy is proof that being different doesn’t mean being limited. She doesn’t let anything slow her down — she can even jump up to 3 feet to reach her favorite cat tree! Getting down can be a bit trickier though, so she’ll need a home with minimal stairs to keep her safe.

✨ Hoppy’s highlights:
• Spayed and ready for adoption
• Sweet, affectionate, and loves cuddles & scratches
• Gets along with other cats
• Does well with calm, friendly dogs
• Full of personality and resilience
Hoppy has spent years waiting for someone to see just how special she is. She deserves a home where she’s not just a foster… but family.

💻 Apply to adopt Hoppy at pnciowa.org
Please share and help us find this amazing girl the forever home she’s been waiting for 🐾💛

🎶 Can’t Help Falling in Love… with Elvis! 💙🐾

✨️Please read the ENTIRE post before applying✨️

Our sweet Elvis is still searching for his perfect forever home! This adorable 1-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Bichon mix is as lovable as they come. His favorite things? Snuggling in bed with his people (tiny head on the pillow included 🥹), zoomies around the yard, and happily chewing on his favorite toys.

Elvis has done wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and some kids — though older kiddos are best, because tiny humans can still be a little scary for him. He’s also doing great with potty training!

Because Elvis is still building confidence and learning that the world isn’t so scary, he must go to a home with a confident resident dog to show him the ropes, and a lower-activity household with no young children. We’ve had so many amazing applications, but we know the perfect match is still out there waiting for him. 💫

Elvis is current on vaccines, neutered, dewormed, and microchipped — ready to start his next chapter!

💙 Think you might be Elvis’s forever family? Apply today at pnciowa.org/adopting
