Newton Optimists are proud to announce the winning officer for our 2026 Respect For the Law award is Officer Landon Moss!

Officer Moss was voted by his peers to have best portrayed the following qualities

- Unflappable in times of adversity
- Communicates with optimism
- Inspiring to others
- Ambitious towards improvement
- Team oriented with success
- Resilient
- Not critical of others

Newton Optimists wanted to recognize the work of officers who create improved cultures with their presence, who take time to ensure that things are done with the best outcome possible, and who role model their work ethic around others. This award aligns with the Optimist International’s Respect for the Law Program, which started in 1965. Our hope is that this recognition can foster optimism in a workforce that can often be faced with negativity.

Congratulations again to Officer Landon Moss!!

WOWZA! Thank you Newton for coming out and providing socks for our community’s kiddos! 🧦

Participants enjoyed a $2 off drink served by Gezellig’s great bartender, Alex, and decorated socks that will be used for our next Socks and Hops box! 🍻

Stay tuned for more of our club’s future events and projects that will create more opportunities for optimism in our community! 😊

‼️ Tomorrow night ‼️

We are very excited about having our community join us for our Socks and Hops event from 6-8p at Gezellig! 🍻

‼️ 7 more days ‼️

We can’t wait to see our community show up for a fun event where they can also support our youth!! 😊

Hey Newton residents, the Optimists Club is calling on YOU to come join in on our fundraising event SOCKS AND HOPS! 🧦🍺

We are hoping to provide local schools with enough socks to support our youth who are in need for this upcoming school year! Often during clothing drives items such as socks are overlooked, yet they are always in great need. We look forward to seeing how our community can step up and while having fun at Gezellig Brewery on July 14th from 5-7p. We hope to see you there! 😊

‼️Just 14 days until our donations event, Socks and Hops ‼️

Please bring youth - adult sized socks so we can help provide an often looked over donation need to our local kids lacking necessary clothing items. These donations will be distributed during this next school year in coordination with the local school district. We hope to see you all there! 😊🙌🏼

‼️ Flags are officially up at the Jasper County courthouse for the 250 celebration ‼️

We are so grateful for this opportunity our club was given to help show our pride and patriotism in collaboration with the county! Special thanks to county staff, Mark and Adam, who took the lead on getting these placed and to our Optimist member John Lee for helping organize and take these photos. We are excited for what is sure to be a great celebration! 🇺🇸
