Today, the Naval War College Foundation marked the dedication of the Andrew J. Zimbelmann Endowed Chair for Leadership, Ethics, and Character at the U.S. Naval War College.

Through a generous commitment from the Tony and Ann Ryan Family Foundation, the Zimbelmann Chair will provide long-term support for a senior faculty position dedicated to strengthening the College’s work to educate military officers and civilian leaders for the responsibilities of command and the challenges of national security decision-making.

For four decades, A.J. Zimbelmann strengthened the nation’s undersea forces through his work at General Dynamics Electric Boat, contributing to submarine programs vital to U.S. credibility and deterrence. Colleagues and Navy partners valued his ability to weigh risk carefully, make consequential decisions with discipline, and lead with integrity.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day is a time to remember the men and women who never came home, who gave their lives in service to something larger than themselves. Their courage and sacrifice are woven into the story of our freedom, shaping the Nation we built and continue to honor today. We carry their memory forward with deep gratitude, and they will not be forgotten.

On Friday, in partnership with The Roosevelt Group, we were honored to host a reception celebrating the U.S. Naval War College (USNWC) Naval Staff College (NSC) Class of 2026. The spirit of the USNWC was on full display as students, alumni, and friends gathered for an evening of connection beyond the classroom.

As the Class of 2026 prepares for graduation next month, we congratulate these accomplished students and look forward to the impact they will make in service to their nations and the international community.

Last week, our President and CEO, CAPT George E. Lang, Jr., USN (Ret.), joined the U.S. Naval War College’s (USNWC) Naval Command College (NCC) for a visit to Hanwha Philly Shipyard. During the visit, the group heard from leaders at Hanwha Defense USA, Inc. about the shipyard’s growing role in supporting commercial and government shipbuilding efforts across the United States.

Experiences like these provide international students with valuable exposure to the partnerships, innovation, and industries shaping today’s strategic environment. Supporting international programs at USNWC is an investment in the future of global leadership, and we are grateful to our partners and members who make these experiences possible.
