Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, presented by the Bazarsky Family Foundation, every month young children anywhere in Newport County can receive a book of their very own from birth to age 5.

🦋⭐️Did you know that if you have a baby at Newport Hospital, that all caregivers are asked if they would like to sign their newborn up for a free monthly book while completing their child’s birth certificate paperwork in the hospital. ✨ ⭐️

The first few years of a child life is a critical time for brain development -- nearly 80% of a child's brain is developed by age three! By signing up at birth, we are maximizing the impact this program has on a child, further helping them to develop critical skills necessary for entering kindergarten ready to learn. 🦋📙✨

Who doesn’t LOVE Llama Llama!!!! Newport County moms, dads and caregivers, be sure to sign up your “littles” so that they can start receiving our free books in the mail. All children between 0-5 years old are eligible. Books are mailed directly to your home each month, until your child’s 5th birthday. Follow this link to register and reach out with any questions.

🦋📪📚It’s 9-25 Day and Dolly's inspiration lives on. I was lucky enough to visit 2 special places this week.
Miss Jenny’s classroom at Countryside Children's Center to read stories and meet some new friends and Miss Robin’s children’s story hour Portsmouth Free Public Library to share our program with new families.
I know Dolly was smiling down as they leaned how they could begin receiving free books in the mail each month. There was so much excitement!

📚📪This week, Miss Jenny's State PreK class Countryside Children's Center in Portsmouth, RI, had a special guest. Julie Kaull, a registered dietitian with Visiting Nurse, came to read the Imagination Library book "Just Try One Bite" written by Adam Mansbach and Camila Alves McConaughey, illustrated by Mike Boldt.
The children enjoyed the rhyming words and identifying the different types of foods that even the adults in the story wouldn't eat!
After reading, the class assembled a healthy snack: yogurt parfaits with Greek yogurt, granola, blueberries, and bananas. It was the perfect way to celebrate the end of their Exercise Unit.
