Congratulations to the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Newport, RI Dennis Collins Division 1, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year!
Generations of Newport Hibernians have helped preserve and celebrate the city’s Irish heritage. Their spirit is especially visible each March through the Newport St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the Newport RI Ancient Order of Hibernian's Pipes and Drums, the AOH Men's Singers and the many members who participate in and support this cherished community tradition.

In this week’s Newport This Week, writer Helen Hames explores the history of the Newport AOH, Hibernian Hall and the generations of families who have carried the organization forward since 1876.

A great time yesterday at the 2026 Annual Citizens Pell Bridge Run. Working the Registration table with Mary Graham Fletcher, John Fletcher, Dan Titus, and Dennis Sullivan. The participants were a lively, fun bunch. This annual event is one you have to do at least once, whether running it or walking it. Props to Gray Matter Marketing and the folks from the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority on running this like a well-oiled machine. We all hope to help next year.

After much anticipation the long-awaited opening of the newly expanded IHOP is here. Tommorow they will be open from 7am to 530pm. Similar hours will be in place for the first week or two.

We look forward to getting in there for some tasty meals and of course some pancakes regardless of what the meal is you are ordering. Middletown RI IHOP has been our biggest parade supporter over the years so make sure to get on in there and show them some love. You will not regret it especially with so many choices from their menu. It is a great way to start the day off or end the day.

Hope to see all our parade supporters there for a tasty good time.
