The mission of Achilles International is to enable people with all types of disabilities to participate in mainstream running events in order to promote personal achievement. Over the years, Achilles has developed specialized programs for children and war veterans. Achilles Kids provides training, racing opportunities, and an in-school program for children with disabilities, while our Freedom Team program brings race and marathon opportunities to wounded, ill and injured veterans post trauma.

50 years of challenging whatā€™s possible. When Achilles International Mongolia Chapter Lead Amarjargal Davaa first joined Achilles, one moment changed the trajectory of her life:

ā€œSeeing Saranchuluun, a young woman with a prosthetic leg, leading others, running, hiking, and radiating absolute confidence, shattered my excuses... I realized that limitations exist only in the mind.ā€

Since Dick Traum made history at the 1976 New York City Marathon, Achilles has grown into a global movement built around that same belief: breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for athletes with disabilities around the world.
