Pillows for Paws, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, brings comfort and love to NYC’s homeless cats, dogs, rabbits, and guinea pigs through donations of beds, toys, treats, and enrichment items. We hold monthly circles where volunteers come and help create handmade items. We make them with love from our hearts and they get directly delivered by us to abandoned, abused, and homeless cats, dogs, rabbits, and
guinea pigs living in our City’s animal shelters at Animal Care & Control of NYC. Since the city shelter has over 35,000 animals enter it each year, we feel they are the most in need. In addition to our handmade beds and toys, we gather donations and funds for monthly drop-offs to the 110th Street shelter in Manhattan. We donate much needed items such as chew bones for dogs, lattice balls for cats, and hay and cranberries for rabbits & guinea pigs. Many of these items are also distributed to the Brooklyn city shelter. Comfort items help bring a sense of calm and love to each cage and let these animals know that they are not forgotten. Giving them a toy or bed to play with in their cages while they wait for their forever homes reduces stress and keeps them cozy. Supporting emotional stability is a huge component to an animal’s health and well-being in a stressful shelter environment. Healthy, relaxed, stimulated, and calm shelter animals are more likely to be adopted and that is everyone’s goal!
