Today, we honor and remember the brave service members who gave their lives in service to our country.

As we gather with loved ones this Memorial Day, we pause in gratitude for the sacrifices made by so many and reflect on the courage, service, and lives lost.

From all of us at Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, we remember and honor them today and always. 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day weekend, we honor the lives, sacrifices, and stories of those who have served our country 🇺🇸

In this video, one of our guests shares his journey as a veteran, the challenges he faced after service, and how he found support and community at Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen.

Behind every veteran is a human story — one of resilience, dignity, hardship, and hope.

As we remember those who gave their lives in service, we also recognize the importance of continuing to support veterans in our communities every day.

“For many New Yorkers, SNAP is the difference between eating and going hungry.”

In this conversation, Eddie shares his experience navigating homelessness while Jay, our Social Services Manager, speaks about the growing concern surrounding potential SNAP benefit cuts and what they could mean for vulnerable communities across New York City.

Behind every policy decision are real people, real struggles, and real lives impacted by access to food.

This is why Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen continues to show up every day — providing meals, pantry support, social services, and community for our neighbors in need.

Our clothing pantry is running critically low, and we urgently need men’s clothing donations this week.

While temperatures may have briefly felt like summer, colder weather and rain are returning — and many of our guests do not have the proper clothing to stay warm and dry.

Right now, we are especially in need of:
• T-shirts (L/XL)
• Men’s pants (32–38)
• Light jackets & hoodies
• Backpacks & duffel bags

Donation Drop-Off Hours:
Monday–Thursday | 9 AM – 3 PM

Address: 296 9th Ave New York, NY 10001

Lightly used or new men’s clothing can make an immediate difference for someone in need. Please consider dropping off clothing items, sharing this post, or spreading the word to help keep our community clothed, dry, and supported this week. Thank you!

Yesterday marked two years of the Holy Apostles Choice Pantry 💙

What began as a vision to create a more welcoming and dignified food pantry experience has grown into a space where thousands of New Yorkers have been able to access fresh food, choice, and community. The Choice Pantry grew out of our Backpack Pantry Program, which began in 2017, before expanding into a full food pantry in 2019.

Today was a special moment to reflect on how far the pantry has come and the many staff, volunteers, supporters, and guests who continue to shape it every day.

We were also grateful to welcome Carl Wilson, New York City Council Member for Manhattan’s District 3, and Kate MacKenzie, Executive Director of the NYC Mayor’s Office of Food Policy, as we celebrated this milestone alongside our community.
