In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we wanted to share clips from the Positive Exposure FRAME films, addressing the stigma of mental health challenges and the power of the arts to support healing, inspire new perspectives, and foster dignity and understanding. On our website, in the section labeled “Film Library”, you can find these films in their entirety and many other FRAME films.

These films were made in collaboration with Fountain House NYC, which works to transform mental illness recovery through community and advocacy. Fountain House Gallery and Studio supports the careers and creative visions of contemporary artists living with mental illness.

Made possible with generous support from Mother Cabrini Health Foundation.

Video Description:
A video of approximately 1 minute features shortened clips from our films made with Fountain House NYC. The subjects of the videos are seen curating art and preparing to perform. The last clip is a white screen that reads “Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month” with four logos on the screen. The logos are Positive Exposure, Diplodocus Films, Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, and Fountain House Gallery and Studio.

Yesterday, we were lucky to host two field trips in our gallery; a class from District 75, and Celina Leroy’s art students! The students did an art workshop inspired by Celina’s portrait series, Reflections of Beauty, which celebrates vascular birthmarks, cranial differences, and everything else that makes them unique. The students watched a film made by the artist highlighting interviews of the subjects in her portraits.

While Celina’s portraits are still up in our space, we are making the most of it.

Don’t miss the closing celebration and art workshop this Sunday, May 31 from 2:00-5:00pm!
