As we prepare to welcome our scholars back for a new school year, we're looking back at our 2026 Promise Academy High School Graduation for a reminder of where their HCZ journeys can lead. Promise Academy 2017 alum and keynote speaker Kiara Molina started at Harlem Gems, continued through Promise Academy I, and, with support from our College Success Office, went on to graduate from Syracuse University with a degree in Public Relations. She returned to the HCZ Armory to remind our newest graduates about the power of resilience. To our scholars: you're still writing your journey. Dream big, keep showing up, and make it yours. 💛

Our scholars mean business. 💡 High school scholars from across the Zone competed at the annual Run the Future: Final Pitch Competition hosted by Wealth Builds. Our young entrepreneurs developed, tested, and promoted their own business ideas, then pitched them to a panel of professionals. Winners earned up to $1,000 to invest in their ventures, and every scholar walked away with sharper business skills and greater confidence in their ideas. Congratulations to our future leaders — we couldn't be prouder!

We're gonna shout it out, peace is what we're all about! 📢 The 32nd Annual Rasuli Lewis Children's March for Peace brought our scholars, families, and staff together to march in the streets of Harlem to demand an end to gun violence. Gathering at the HCZ Armory, our community heard powerful words from CEO Kwame Owusu-Kesse and President and Founder Geoffrey Canada, watched inspiring performances from our scholars, and stood together as a community. Our rising college freshmen got a headstart on their post-secondary journeys at Summer Bridge, a program hosted by our College Success Office at Columbia University. Scholars prepared for college by exploring a variety of subjects in classes taught by industry experts, including many of our HCZ staff members! Before our scholars head off to college for the fall semester, our CEO Kwame Owusu-Kesse stopped by to share words of wisdom and encouragement. 🎓
