National Dance Institute (NDI) brings the joy of dance and music into the lives of thousands of children each year. Founded in 1976 by Jacques d’Amboise, we are proud to be celebrating our 50th anniversary year. In partnership with public schools, families, and communities, NDI creates spaces where every child can move, create, and belong. Our programs are designed to nurture confidence, spark creativity, and build a sense of community so that all children, regardless of background, ability, or experience, have the opportunity to grow through the arts.

Did you know??! If you have a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), you already have charitable dollars set aside and ready to do good. It’s like having a gift card ready to be spent on the work that matters to you.

DAF Day is October 8th, a national day encouraging DAF holders to give to the organizations they love. With more than $327 billion currently held in DAFs*, there’s an incredible opportunity to move more of those charitable dollars out into the world, where they can make a difference now.

If you have a DAF but haven’t used it to support NDI before, recommending a grant is easy: simply log in to your DAF provider and search for National Dance Institute using our EIN 13-2890779.

We knew our musicians could bring down the house. And they did. 🎶💛
NDI JAMZ put the extraordinary artists behind the music of NDI center stage - and what a night it was.

Live music has been at the heart of NDI for 50 years. Every day, our musicians bring their artistry into NDI classrooms, responding to our dancers in real time and helping create the energy, joy, and connection that make the NDI experience so special.
At JAMZ, it was their turn to take the spotlight - and they SHINED BRIGHTLY. 🔥

Thank you to the incredible artists who shared their talent with us, to everyone who came out to celebrate, and to the entire NDI community for making the night one to remember.

Meet the first of many incredible NDI teams heading into classrooms across NYC this school year!

Fiona, Tina, and Ammon are bringing the joy of dance and live music to the students of PS 107! 🎶💛

And PS 107 is just one of the many schools where you'll find our dedicated Teaching Artists and musicians. Working across multiple teams and schools, they reach hundreds of students each week, inspiring confidence, creativity, and a love of dance and music.

Here's to another year of moving, learning, and growing together.

✨ Meet Team Jacques runner Zander!

“NDI’s commitment and vision to bring arts education to students in the public school sector who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to experience it is inspiring and difference-making.”

Zander has seen firsthand what access to the arts can mean for a child. When working with students with disabilities, he witnessed the impact the arts can have on education, well-being, confidence, and joy. ❤️

That’s what inspired him to take on 26.2 miles with Team Jacques—helping NDI bring the transformative power of dance and live music to more children across New York City.

It takes a lot of people to make the NDI magic happen. 💛

This week, our Teaching Artists and musicians are deep in preparation for the year ahead—choreography sessions inspired by our curricular theme, classroom management workshops, guest Teaching Artists, and conversations about best practices that keep the NDI Method growing and evolving.

And behind the scenes, our administrative staff is hard at work too - making sure our teams are ready to head into schools, programs are set up for success, communications and storytelling are planned, partnerships are supported, and all the many pieces that make an NDI year possible are in place.

Different roles. Different talents. One team working toward the same goal: creating extraordinary experiences for young people through dance, music and the arts.

Here’s to the people behind the magic - and our 2026-2027 NDI team. 💛
And yes, apparently choreography is still easier than getting all of us into one group photo. 😂📸
