Declared a landmark in 1970, the branch today houses a variety of collections that serve an ethnically diverse community.

Designed by the famous architectural firm of McKim, Mead and White in the style of an Italian palazzo, the Hamilton Grange Branch was opened in 1907 with funds donated by Andrew Carnegie. The roots of its name date back to 1802 when Alexander Hamilton moved his family into a country house he called The Grange in the then-rural outskirts of New York City. Hamilton Grange offers programs for adults, teenagers, and children; provides Lifelong Learning materials for new adult readers; and has meeting space for use by neighborhood groups. The branch is fully accessible to persons who use wheelchairs.

Hamilton Grange Library will be offering an Acting and Theater Studies class on Saturday, October 17 from 1:00-2:30 PM.

This class is designed for the beginning adult actor seeking experience and feedback. It highlights ways to makeyour performance more natural and spontaneous.

Attendees will work with ensemble building games, script analysis, scene study, and stage production. No experience is necessary.

Connect with Your Community: Genealogy program will take place on Wednesday, October 7 at 4pm.

Explore the library's free Ancestry database to uncover your family's roots, while also getting the opportunity to bond with your community by sharing old photographs, keepsakes, and family stories that represent your history and heritage. This program is open for Adults 18+. No registration is required.

Library Detectives (Ages 6-12)
Thursday, September 10| 4:00 PM
To kick-off Library Open House Week, kids ages 6-12 can learn about how to be a library detective through a mix of scavenger hunts and puzzles to solve by navigating the library's collections and finding some of the treasures it has to offer!

Library Open House: Little Movers Storytime

Tuesday, September 15 | 11:00 PM
Join us for a special story time to hear NYPL themed stories, sing songs, and get those wiggles out as you help your active child build important early learning skills. Plus, families who join early literacy programs will get a free copy of Baby Loves Library, a special-edition indestructible book. Storytime will be a ticketed event due to capacity limits. Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis and limited to 15 families.

Library Card Wallet Workshop (Ages 13-18)

Teens can celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month and Library Open House Week by making their own library card wallet out of duct tape! Design and personalize your own so to keep your library card safe and stylish! This is the perfect opportunity for teens to sign up for a library card.

Book Tasting: Library Edition (Ages 18+)

We will explore stories about libraries, the magic of reading, and literature’s impact on our lives. Base your design on a beloved character, iconic quote, or your own artistic style. Our DIY Bookmark Workshop will take place on Tuesday, August 11 at 4 PM.
