For our next NoHo through the years, we’re remembering the iconic Whale of a Wash that called the intersection of Broadway and Houston home for many years. It was iconic. 🐳

This around the clock was legendary, and where everybody in this part of town came to wash a car. It closed in 2001 and the office building has stood there ever since. Village Preservation (GVSHP)

The Astor is NoHo’s newest destination, a place inspired by classic tavern and supper clubs that’s perfectly tucked away from the business of NYC’s streets within the The Public Theater. The space formerly home to the Library has been totally transformed into an excellent new spot, with the same classic NoHo Hospitality Group touches.

Cooper Square, sometime around the turn of the century. We recently found this postcard in a book from NoHo’s own ~! Of course when I saw this in it, it was a must buy. I love the little horse drawn trolley cars and the long lost buildings you can glimpse here.

Over the weekend, a new memorial to Dave, who ran the news stand at 738 Broadway for many years, popped up. After he passed away in the spring, the news stand was filled with tributes and memorials, and it’s nice to see another one on the gate. ❤️

On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, NoHo is remembering. We joined New York University’s commemoration at 4th and Mercer, where a new remembrance tree was planed. It was a thoughtful ceremony and thank you to our partners at NYU for this new space for reflection.

The fire station on Great Jones Street, home to Engine 33 and Ladder 9 was also in full swing with their annual gathering.
