Summer Farm Tour Season is almost here, and we're so excited to welcome you back to the farm! 🌞

🍯 Happy World Bee Day from Harlem! 🐝

Did you know Harlem Grown has beehives? Last year, our busy little neighbors produced over 230 pounds of honey!

Bees are so much more than honey makers, they are essential members of the farm and food system. They help plants reproduce, support the growth of fruits and vegetables, and play a key role in healthy ecosystems.

Here's the sad reality: in New York State alone, up to 60% of native pollinator species - bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, and more - are at risk of disappearing. That's why the work of protecting pollinator habitats in communities like ours matters so much.

Big news at Harlem Grown! 🎊

We’re thrilled to celebrate two incredible members of our team: Idalia Bamert, our Farm Education Manager, and Sasha Dubose, our Chef Educator, for being named to the Hunter College New York City Food Policy Center 40 Under 40 list!

This roster honors the educators, advocates, chefs, farmers, and changemakers helping shape a more equitable, sustainable food system across New York City - and we couldn’t imagine two more deserving people to be part of it.

Through their compassion, creativity, and dedication, they continue to make a lasting impact in the lives of our students and community every single day.

Please join us in congratulating them on this well-earned achievement! Thank you both for the care you continuously pour into Harlem 💚

As Teacher Appreciation Week comes to a close, we're taking a moment to celebrate the incredible educators who make Harlem Grown’s hands-on education in urban farming, sustainability, and nutrition, possible.

From our after-school program to spring, winter, and summer camps — our educators show up every single day to ensure the children we serve feel engaged, safe, and cared for. Whether they're leading a cooking lesson or demonstrating a hydroponic system, they bring creativity and heart to everything they do 💚

We're also thankful for amazing corporate partners like OXO, whose continued support brings this work to life. Together, we're not just growing fruits and vegetables — we're growing people.
