NEW in the Coney Island History Project Oral History Archive: Actor and artist Richard Eagan, whose boyhood visits to Steeplechase Park with his grandfather inspired a lifelong creative connection with Coney Island. This Memorial Day Weekend, Coney Island debuted the Wonder Gallery, a free seasonal art space inside the Coney Island History Project celebrating the neighborhood’s colorful past through photography, zines and storytelling.

We're opening Memorial Day Weekend! The Wonder Gallery is a collaboration between Parachute Literary Arts and the Coney Island History Project. The gallery is located at the History Project’s Exhibit Center at 3059 West 12th Street, next to the landmark Wonder Wheel. The Wonder Gallery opens May 23 with Anders Goldfarb's photographs of Coney Island in the 1970s and 1980s, and The Coney Island Zine Machine. The Zine Machine debuts with mini-zines created by Sheepshead Bay artist Kelly Luu. The Wonder Gallery is open 1:00 PM-7:00 PM, weekends and holidays, from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day.
