CWA Local 1180 The union working for working people Local 1180 is an affiliate of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) located in New York City.

We represent more than 8,000 workers. Most of us work for the City of New York, in dozens of Mayoral agencies and at the Health and Hospitals Corporation. Local 1180 also represents workers at the Board of Education, the Housing Authority, the Transit Authority, the School Construction Authority, the state's Unified Court System; at private companies such as the Jacob Javits Convention Center; and

at not-for-profit organizations including Planned Parenthood of New York City, the ASPCA, Human Rights First, and Human Rights Watch. The Local 1180 page is a place for the union to post about meetings, events, labor-related news, legislation, and anything else that keeps the membership updated and informed. It is a safe place for positive and engaging conversations. It is NOT a place for hateful or derogatory comments, racist or antisemitic remarks, anything that incites riots or negative behavior, or any type of replies that are intended to attack, smear, or damage another individual. Local 1180 retains the right at will to remove comments of such nature. Anyone experiencing a problem with another member or the union is highly encouraged to send a private message, all of which are addressed in a timely manner.
