😎 IT'S A WRAP! SUMMER 2026 🌻
This summer at Chamah was a busy season. Over the past few months, the Chamah centers have been buzzing with activities, special events, and assistance for children and families across our communities. From summer programs for children and teens to support for single mothers, IDF families, and others in need, Chamah has been there throughout the summer to provide care, encouragement, and a helping hand.
For working parents, the summer months can be especially challenging. With school out for the summer, parents have to go to work while the regular school-day supervision their children receive during the year is no longer available. Chamah summer programs help solve this problem by providing care for children so their parents can go to work knowing their children are well supervised and having a great time.
In Israel, many fathers have served—or are serving—for months at a time, away from home, protecting the Jewish homeland. Additionally, for many children the summer program also helps ensure a nutritious, warm meal that they otherwise might not have had that day.
The Chamah summer programs in Israel, Russia, and the USA are an important cornerstone of our support for working families, single-parent homes, and other families in need.
🍨 A Summer of Growth and Connection 👧
Throughout the summer, the Chamah Youth Center in Kiryat Malachi, Israel, provided local teens with a supportive place to spend their vacation time. Located at the Chamah Center, the Youth Center offers social and educational activities designed to give young people a positive environment where they can develop their talents, build relationships, and receive guidance and encouragement.
For teenagers navigating the challenges of adolescence, having a place where they feel welcome and supported can make a meaningful difference. The Youth Center's staff work to build personal relationships with the teens while encouraging their social, emotional, educational, and personal growth.
👩 A Special Day for Mothers and Children ❤️
The summer also brought special moments for families participating in Itach Balev (אתך בלב), Chamah's ongoing program for single mothers and widows in Israel.
As part of the program, mothers and their children recently enjoyed a special lunch outing together. The gathering provided an opportunity to step away from the pressures of daily life, spend meaningful time together, and connect with other families in a warm and welcoming environment.
Through gatherings, special events, retreats, and ongoing assistance throughout the year, Chamah reminds these women that they are part of a caring community and do not have to face life's challenges alone.
✡️ An Evening of Support for IDF Families 🇮🇱
Chamah continues it’s support for the families of IDF soldiers. Since October 7, many wives have carried the responsibility of managing their homes and families while their husbands serve extended periods of military duty.
This summer, as part of its support for wives of IDF soldiers, Chamah hosted a special evening for these special women at the Sorrento Restaurant in Rishon LeZion. Chef Yuval Matalon led an Italian cooking and w**e-tasting experience, giving the women an opportunity to relax, enjoy one another's company, and take a welcome break from their demanding daily responsibilities.
Through programs such as retreats, couples' getaways, and special gatherings, Chamah continues to stand alongside IDF families and recognize the sacrifices they make while their loved ones serve to protect the Jewish Homeland.
🛒 Bringing Holiday Joy to Families in Need 🛍️
The summer season also included Chamah's ongoing assistance to people in need. In honor of the Shavuot holiday, Chamah distributed food packages to families so they could celebrate the holiday with dignity and joy.
The packages included traditional dairy cakes and sweets, and many were delivered to single mothers who receive support through Chamah's programs throughout the year.
For families facing financial difficulties, these gestures can help make for an uplifting holiday experience. A package of food is practical assistance—and a reminder that they have not been forgotten and that their community is there for them.
📚 Preparing for a New School Year 👦
And as summer drew to a close, preparations were already underway for the new school year at the Chamah Children's Daycare Centers in Israel, getting ready to begin another year of learning and growth.
As summer comes to an end, Chamah's work continues. With the High Holidays upon us and the Sukkot holiday approaching, we are working now to assist those in need with additional food distributions and holiday food packages, helping families celebrate the holidays with dignity and joy.
