The mission of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross Foundation is to support the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, whose mission is to address one of the world's most critical needs, the formation of priests who will lead the Church in the 21st century. The cost per student for just one academic year (including academics as well as residential) is more than $31,000. Of this, only about one-third is covered by the tuition and fees charged to the students. Many of the students come from very poor dioceses in the developing world. They could never afford to pay the whole cost of their education. The Church needs its strongest and best leaders where there's the most work to be done. The PUHC Foundation’s main offices are in New York, New York.

When his archbishop told him he was headed to Rome, Francis Antwi Opoku couldn't believe it.

Is this a dream? That question followed him all the way to Rome, all the way to the place where it stopped feeling like one: standing in the exact spot where Peter and Paul once preached, nearly two thousand years before he got to stand there himself.

Ask Michael what draws him to the priesthood and he doesn't hesitate: the desire to be a father, to give his life for something far greater than himself.

It's the natural longing of any man to lay everything down for the sake of another. Through holy orders, he gives that over completely, to act in the person of Christ.

Not because he feels worthy, but because he's been chosen anyway.
