Our abuelitas always had a way of knowing when something wasn’t quite right - and when they said, “the air feels heavy today,” they weren’t wrong.

As , rising temperatures contribute to poorer air quality by increasing ozone and smog. The result: more asthma attacks, more respiratory illnesses, and greater health risks, especially for our children.

Latino families often face a disproportionate share of these impacts because of where we live and the work many of us do every day.

🎤 This week, 17 Moms from across the country testified before EPA to defend strong standards and protect the clean air our families depend on.

Liz Hurtado, Connecticut mom of four and leader of EcoMadres, spoke about the real impact air pollution has on children and communities. She highlighted the alarming rates of asthma affecting children and the disproportionate burden of pollution faced by Latino, Black, and other communities of color across the country.

With more than 156 million Americans living in areas with unhealthy air pollution, strong vehicle pollution standards are one of the most effective tools we have to reduce harmful soot and smog.

In this Justice in Every Breath live conversation, we’ll explore how people across generations can build community, protect public health, and cultivate hope in the climate and environmental justice movement. This movement is all hands on deck, and participants will hear real-world stories, practical tools, and local strategies from advocates already making an impact in their communities.

For many Latina mothers, climate change shows up in the heat, the air, and the stress of everyday life.
Latino communities face higher exposure to air pollution and extreme heat — conditions that affect our physical health, but also our mental well-being.

The climate crisis is reshaping pregnancy and motherhood in ways that are rarely part of the conversation. It’s time we changed that.

That exposure during pregnancy leads to more health complications for mothers and babies. More families left without answers or recourse.

This National Heat Awareness Day, we can’t ignore this reality.

Longer heat waves. Stronger storms. Dangerous temperatures for children playing outside and for outdoor workers exposed to every single day.

No family should have to fear for their health because of rising temperatures.

At and , we believe advocacy starts with our voices and our lived experiences. As we say in Spanish, poder means power. And together we have it.
