Swipe to see how we revamped Bronx Community College’s garden this summer 🪴🔄 🪴✨

Bronx Community College reached out to NYRP through our program with interested faculty and students pushing for a garden refresh 🌷 They were looking to renovate their garden space and rebuild their greenhouse 🌿

Once the new garden design was set, our crew:

1️⃣ Built four raised garden beds and filled them with soil

2️⃣ Constructed two trellises

3️⃣ Built four benches and two picnic tables

4️⃣ Installed new perennial beds and planted 48 perennials/shrubs (and a fig tree!)

5️⃣ Spread four yards of woodchips

6️⃣ Replaced all the old panels on the greenhouse walls with new poly material

It’s truly a wonderful space and we look forward to seeing how it will evolve along with NYRP’s team assisting throughout the season 🦋 It was a pleasure working with Green Action Challenge Grant and BCC Bioclub and we look forward to future collaborations! 💚

Making natural fizzy sodas at Cooper St. Community Garden 🫧 Last month, Kelly Laurent (Kelly) led a hands-on workshop at Cooper St. Community Garden on how to make naturally fizzy sodas using a ginger-based starter culture fermentation technique 🫚 This refreshing drink, enjoyed throughout the Caribbean, has long been used to support digestion and help ease nausea 🌿

Thank you to our Seasonal Community Garden Engagement Assistant Anjana Peddireddi (🫆) for making another wonderful and informative vid 💚 Find an NYRP garden event near you at nyrp.org/calendar
