SIGN THE PETITION TO PREVENT BUDGET CUTS TO ! Link in bio 🔗

Yesterday, the City released the proposed Executive Budget for 2027.

🥳 The good news:

The 2027 budget dedicates $15m which will make essential positions permanent

☹️ The bad news:

Despite this investment, the budget still cuts $24M from

100 and 15 will lose their jobs at the end of June due to these cuts

We applaud Mayor Mamdani for recognizing the importance of investing in New York City’s parks system in his executive budget. This $15 million commitment of permanent funding for NYC Parks workers is a meaningful step toward reversing years of underinvestment and following through on the mayor’s pledge to increase Parks Department spending to 1% of the City budget by the end of his term. That said, given the severity of staffing losses under the previous administration, we also continue to call on the mayor to make additional urgent investments and baseline 100 Parks Enforcement Patrol and GreenThumb staff who will lose their jobs at the end of June. We look forward to working with the administration and City Council to ensure sustained support for our parks workforce and the resources needed to maintain safe, clean, and accessible green spaces in every neighborhood across the five boroughs 💪

Be honest with us guys... would you buy this tote if the proceeds supported our NYRP team and programs?

We commissioned our pal to design these awesome totes featuring some of the most popular native trees we distribute as part of our giveaways including the American Chestnut, Pawpaw, Eastern Redbud, Sweetbay Magnolia, and American Persimmon (plus the critters that pollinate them 🪲)

We’ve been giving these totes away at our giveaways this year but want to gauge interest for producing them in a larger quantity to fund our tree work in NYC 👀 Let us know what you think in the comments! ⬇️
