United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism

We are the network of Conservative Jewish congregations across North America.

We strengthen synagogues at every level and are the leading voice for an authentic and dynamic Judaism around the world. Founded in 1913, USCJ is the network of nearly 600 Conservative Jewish communities across North America. We represent the values and beliefs of an authentic and dynamic Judaism in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Israel. Our work strengthens kehillot (Jewish communities inside and outside the walls of a synagogue) by providing visionary leadership training, creating opportunities for Jews of all ages to learn and grow, sharing essential resources, and seeding innovative ideas.

🕯️ Today, we remember the eleven lives lost in the Tree of Life synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh. We honor their memories by recommitting ourselves to the values they embodied — faith, community, and love over hate. May their memories forever be a blessing. 💙

“This is how we’ve always done it," is a common refrain when introducing new ideas at synagogues. When thinking about how we introduce change at our synagogues, how do we know what to preserve, what to let go of, and what to change without alienating our core membership? Join us for an interactive 90-minute workshop for synagogue leaders who are navigating change. We will introduce you to the concepts of Adaptive Leadership. Through reflection and conversation with fellow leaders, we’ll explore how to recognize adaptive challenges, understand the losses that make change difficult, and use small experiments to move our communities forward.
