Thanks for showing up to get out the climate vote in the midterm elections! Hundreds of Dayenu activists turned out to contact climate voters: phonebanking, postcarding, and knocking doors to help get climate voters to the polls.

It all added up – and made a difference. The results represent a huge win for democracy, for free and fair elections, for the climate, and for people power.

We had the chutzpah to mobilize people to stand up to fossil fuel giants, billionaires, and an administration that puts profiteering above all else – our health, our climate, our future. We have had enough of destruction and recklessness; we want to build a clean energy future that centers the needs of communities hardest hit by the climate crisis.

Today, we hold onto hope that the new Congress has real opportunities to take meaningful climate action; and we will be there to ensure they understand and act on the priorities of people, not rapacious corporations.

Thanks to our wonderful partners in this work, especially Environmental Voter Project, which is delivering on its promise of building a bloc of consistent climate-concerned voters across the country.

As we head into the last Shabbat before the midterm election, many of us are feeling anxious about all of the unknowns that the next week will bring. This election feels existential, and it’s hard to tap into Shabbat’s restful atmosphere when we feel distinctly restless.

Facing an unknown future also presents us with the opportunity to think creatively about what is possible. Creative practice invites us to ask: What else could this be? How else could we tell the story of our time as one of possibility, collective action, and movement toward the world we want?

In Jewish tradition, the peace and restfulness of Shabbat is a taste of the World to Come — the just, livable future for which we are fighting. We take a break from our creative labor and try to imagine a world without bloodshed, extractive industries, or exploitation.

May this Shabbat be one of rest and connection — with our purpose, with our communities, and with all the possibilities that are still open.

ICYMI: The richest 0.1% are responsible for more emissions than the 'bottom' 3.5 BILLION.

According to a new Oxfam report, yearly emissions from the richest 1% will cause an estimated 1.9 million excess deaths from heat.

Meanwhile, the lavish lifestyles and high-polluting corporate investments of the ultra-wealthy are "directly contributing to increased climate disasters such as floods, fires, droughts and food crises."

What can we do in our communities? Continue to minimize our carbon footprint, while organizing to change policies that reduce inequality.

NEW: The US is the only major economy on Earth where planet-heating pollution increased dramatically last year.

And it will only get worse in 2026, according to the UN Environment Programme's Emissions Gap Report 2026 -- due in large part to Trump's policies.

"The UN points to rising electricity demand and Trump administration policies that support burning fossil fuels. The administration has ordered coal-fired power plants to stay open longer than planned, rolled back vehicle fuel-efficiency standards and ended tax credits for solar and wind projects. The EPA has also reversed its finding that greenhouse gases threaten human health and welfare."

For many of us, the week before the election is a time of increased anxiety, urgency, fear, and exhaustion. Facing an unknown future is never easy, but unknowns are just that — full of the possibility of many outcomes, many futures.

Rabbi Adina Allen teaches in her book, The Place of All Possibility: Cultivating Creativity Through Ancient Jewish Wisdom, about the power of creativity to help us stay in a place of possibility.

CREATIVE PRACTICE: Get out any art supplies that call to you. Open a siddur or the Tanakh, or head over to sefaria.org. Look for a line, phrase or word that catches your eye. Use it as your prompt for writing or art-making and see what emerges. Enjoy the process and the gift of this time just to create.
