Today, we remember September 2, 1945, when Japan formally surrendered aboard the USS Missouri, officially bringing World War II to an end.

We honor the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the millions of American service members who fought across the Pacific, and we remember those who never made it home.

Their service helped secure victory and shaped the freedoms generations of Americans have inherited.

🇺🇸 Happy Birthday, Marine Forces Reserve!

On August 29, we proudly honor the men and women of the United States Marine Forces Reserve and more than a century of answering our nation’s call.

Since 1916, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Marines have stood ready to augment and reinforce the Active Component, deploying around the world while remaining deeply connected to the communities they call home.

At SITREP Foundation, we recognize the unique commitment of our Reserve Marines, balancing careers, families, and civilian responsibilities while maintaining their readiness to step forward when our nation needs them.

To every Marine who has served or continues to serve in the Reserve, thank you for your commitment, sacrifice, and continued service to our country.

🇺🇸 REMEMBERING ABBEY GATE 🇺🇸

Five years ago today, on August 26, 2021, 13 American service members were killed in the terrorist attack at Abbey Gate during the evacuation of Kabul, Afghanistan.

They were 11 Marines, one Navy Corpsman, and one U.S. Army Soldier, men and women who stood their post amid chaos, helping others reach safety.

Today, we remember them by name:

On this fifth anniversary, the SITREP Foundation asks you to take a moment to remember the 13 who gave their last full measure of devotion while serving others.
