Twenty five years, for anyone who lived through it, the memories of that day remain as vivid as ever. Today, we listen to the stories, remember the shock and the profound loss of nearly three thousand innocent souls and the heavy cloud of grief that settled over our country.
But we also must remember what came next. We remember the incredible bravery of the firefighters, police officers, paramedics and military personnel who ran towards danger to save others. We remember how a tragedy meant to divide us instead, united us in strength, resilience and patriotism.
Today, twenty five years later, we stand here in New Richmond, to fulfil a sacred promise.
We will never forget.
Today, we are coming to honor the lives lost to express our enduring gratitude to those who protect us every day and to ensure that the legacy of unity and sacrifice is passed on to the next generation.
Today we stand united: soldiers, firefighters, police, military and civilians. To everyone impacted on that day, twenty five years ago. I hope this brings you peace, and the knowledge that we will never forget that day.
