Teach For America Greater New Orleans Teach For America corps members teach students in grades PK-12 who attend high-needs open-enrollment public schools that serve low-income communities.

We currently partner with 46 schools in the Greater New Orleans region.

A step back in history to move education forward.📚✨

Today, our 2026 corps members visited the Historical New Orleans Collection to deepen their understanding of the city they serve. Corps Members got a deeper look into the story of New Orleans through an archival show-and-tell at the Williams Research Center, a gallery walk through Seignouret-Brulatour exhibits, and a visit to the Icehouse Classroom to learn more about the history of New Orleans public schools and gain resources for their students.

To close out their first full week of Summer Practicum, our 2026 Corps Members visited the Amistad Research Center for an afternoon of learning and reflection.

After a week of lesson planning, classroom leadership, and relationship-building, our corps members demonstrated tremendous growth. The visit offered an opportunity to connect with the rich history and cultural legacy preserved by Amistad.

New Milestone Moment Unlocked✨ During Summer Practicum, corps members demonstrate the planning, preparation, and follow-through needed to bring strong instruction to life. Some of this week’s milestone recipients successfully met the challenge of completing and submitting a lesson on time—a key step in building effective classroom habits.

While these stickers may be small, they represent the consistency, organization, and commitment that make a big difference for students!

MILESTONE MOMENT ✨ Strong classrooms are built on strong relationships, collaboration, and confident leadership. Today, we celebrated four of our incoming Corps Members who stood out for embodying our Teamwork and Run This Room milestones.

Whether it was supporting their peers, contributing thoughtful ideas, helping build a positive learning environment, or stepping confidently into leadership moments, these future educators demonstrated what it means to show up for both their students and their team.
