Memorial Day reminds us of the power of people who take action and lead with care. This day began with residents, formerly enslaved Black Americans, who chose to honor, restore dignity, and remember those who had been forgotten.

That same spirit still lives on today, and we celebrate the residents of Gert Town who continue to strengthen our community through their care, presence, and commitment to one another. Residents are the heart of every community, turning neighborhoods into places of connection, resilience, and shared legacy for generations to come.
