iPrevent OHL is a innovative and interactive program rooted in addressing and providing resources for substance abuse and HIV/HCV prevention programming to New Orleans Youth.Want more information,contact our Program Coordinator Helena: [email protected] We are here to develop and sustain innovative, evidence-based substance abuse and HIV prevention services for black and Latinx youth ages 13-24 in New Orleans. Odyssey House Louisiana, The Peer Prevention Project combines education and awareness programs, social marketing campaigns, and HIV and viral hepatitis (VH) testing services in non-traditional settings, with substance abuse and HIV prevention programming for our community. Today is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day!
From 10:00AM to 2:00PM, Take some time to safely dispose of your expired, unused, or unwanted prescription medications at any of the authorized collection sites. Proper disposal of prescription medications reduces the risk of accidental/intentional overdoses and prevents medications from entering our water supply (being dumped down the drain or toilet) and or improperly discarded in everyday household trash.

Today's theme takes us through the 1900s, when groundbreaking discoveries like vaccines and antibiotics forever changed the fight against infectious diseases. These innovations have saved millions of lives—but protecting their effectiveness requires all of us.

We know infection prevention starts with everyday actions: staying up to date on vaccinations, practicing good hand hygiene, using antibiotics responsibly, and promoting evidence-based prevention strategies.

Hey iPrevent Fam! Today, October 15th, is National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day. This year’s theme, “Knowing Your HIV Status Is a Good Place to Start,” reminds us that knowing your status is an important step toward protecting your health and the health of others.
NLAAD, a social marketing campaign founded by the Latino Commission on AIDS and Hispanic Federation, cites that an estimated 170,000 people in the United States are living with HIV without knowing it. Visiting a local clinic for testing is a critical first step in reducing the risk of transmission.
Odyssey House Louisiana offers free rapid HIV screening at our Community Clinic, located at 2700 S Broad St., on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 AM–11:00 AM.

Hey iPrevent Fam! A breast self-exam can help you become familiar with how your breasts normally look and feel, making it easier to notice changes and discuss them with a healthcare provider. According to the Cleveland Clinic, research shows that many people with breast cancer say that finding a lump at home was how they first knew something was different.
The CDC states that about 66.5% of female breast cancer cases were diagnosed at a localized stage, meaning that the cancer had not spread outside the breast.
💕 Take a few minutes to get familiar with your breasts and remember: knowing your normal can help you recognize when something changes. If you notice anything unusual, talk to your healthcare provider or schedule an appointment with a provider at Odyssey House Louisiana’s Community Clinic at 504-821-9211.
