The Louisiana Supreme Court requires judges to obtain 12.5 hours of continuing education a year, five of which must be obtained through an in-person LJC seminar.

as of October 25, 2026, There were eight reported major violent crimes in New Orleans from October 19-25, 2026. These numbers do not include a shooting and a homicide since midnight.
Last week had two shootings that both occurred in the 5th District (Ninth Ward/Marigny) where there was one homicide victim and one nonfatal shooting.

By the numbers:
Homicide - 67
Nonfatal shooting - 119
Carjacking - 48
Armed robbery - 150

as of October 25, 2026, There were eight reported major violent crimes in New Orleans from October 19-25, 2026. These numbers do not include a shooting and a homicide since midnight.

as of October 18, 2026: From October 12-18, 2026, there were eight reported major violent crimes in Orleans Parish:
Two homicide victims, two nonfatal shootings, and four armed robberies.
Suspects have been identified and taken into custody for both of last week’s homicides.
Incidents were spread throughout the city, with only the 1st District (Treme/Mid-City) and 2nd District (Uptown/Carrollton) reporting no major violent crimes.

There were eight reported major violent incidents in Orleans Parish between October 5-11, 2026.

Six of these incidents were reported in either the 3rd District (Lakeview/Gentilly) or the 7th District (New Orleans East).

There were two homicides on Monday – one in the 3rd District and one in the 7th District.

Additional incidents included a nonfatal shooting, two carjackings, and three armed robberies.

No incidents were reported in the 1st District (Treme/Mid-City), 2nd District (Uptown/Carrollton), 6th District (Garden District/Central City), or 8th District (French Quarter/Downtown).
