This event coincides with the national rally in Washington, DC on that day. Your vote matters. See you there!

In 1963, we marched for jobs and freedom. In 2026, we march for our right to vote, fair wages, and affordable housing and groceries. The job's not done, so the movement continues.

While we’re a couple days late posting in formal recognition of National CROWN Day, the truth is this: we celebrate, honor, and protect the authenticity of Black women every single day.

Celebrated on July 3rd, National CROWN Day commemorates the historic signing of the CROWN Act, which stands for “Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair.” This legislation is a critical civil rights milestone, outlawing race-based hair discrimination and ensuring that natural textures and protective styles like braids, locs, twists, and knots are legally protected in workplaces and schools.

True inclusivity means ensuring everyone feels safe, seen, and celebrated exactly as they are. Today and every day, we stand in solidarity with the brilliant Black women in our community. Wear your crown proudly!

For the enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, who finally received the news of emancipation, freedom was a divine manifestation rather than just a legal victory. This sacred legacy was forged in “hush harbors,” secret spaces where ancestors gathered to pray and sing spirituals that still echo today. Driven by a radical faith that fiercely believed in justice, they transformed centuries of trauma into collective joy and communal healing. Today, we honor the unwavering endurance of those who paved the way, celebrating the sacred journey of freedom and the renewal of our collective soul.
