Hyacinth AIDS Foundation

Hyacinth AIDS Foundation Welcome to Hyacinth AIDS Foundation, the first and largest AIDS service organization in New Jersey. Founded in 1985, we are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt agency.

We provide client services in seven regional offices, as well as several statewide services. Hyacinth was incorporated in 1985 in response to New Jersey’s AIDS epidemic. At the dawn of the epidemic, Hyacinth’s initial programs included a hotline, a buddy program, and support groups to help people with AIDS as they prepared to die, their caregivers as they tried to cope, and those left behind with

their grief. As the United States and the world learned and continues to learn more about HIV and AIDS, Hyacinth has led New Jersey’s response to the epidemic. For more than 30 years, we have been an integral community partner to the development and implementation of public health policies and services. We have worked to ensure that all New Jerseyans have access to anonymous and confidential testing, that those at risk for HIV have access to information and programs to protect themselves from infection, and that those living with HIV/AIDS have access to the best possible medical care and treatment. Today, we provide client services in 7 offices in 6 metropolitan areas of New Jersey, as well as several statewide services. It is our intent to make the next 30 years the last 30 years of the AIDS epidemic. Please join us in the fight to end the AIDS epidemic.

Today, Hyacinth AIDS Foundation honors Juneteenth, a day recognizing freedom, resilience, and the ongoing fight for racial justice and equity. As an organization committed to serving communities disproportionately impacted by HIV, we recognize that health equity and social justice go hand in hand.

In observance of the holiday, all Hyacinth offices will be closed today as we reflect, honor, and celebrate Black history, culture, and liberation. ❤️🖤💚

Mental health affects every part of our well-being, yet many men face pressure to stay silent about what they're experiencing.

During Men's Mental Health Week, Hyacinth encourages open conversations, self-care, and access to the support systems that help us live healthier lives. Breaking down stigma—whether around mental health or HIV—starts with creating space for honesty, compassion, and connection.

You don't have to carry everything alone.

This Men's Mental Health Week, we recognize that mental health is an essential part of overall health. Too often, stigma prevents men from seeking the support they deserve—whether for mental health challenges, HIV care, or other health concerns.

At Hyacinth, we believe that strength includes asking for help, prioritizing wellness, and supporting one another. Together, we can create communities where every man feels empowered to access care, speak openly, and thrive.
