Hyacinth AIDS Foundation Welcome to Hyacinth AIDS Foundation, the first and largest AIDS service organization in New Jersey. Founded in 1985, we are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt agency.

We provide client services in seven regional offices, as well as several statewide services. Hyacinth was incorporated in 1985 in response to New Jersey’s AIDS epidemic. At the dawn of the epidemic, Hyacinth’s initial programs included a hotline, a buddy program, and support groups to help people with AIDS as they prepared to die, their caregivers as they tried to cope, and those left behind with their grief. As the United States and the world learned and continues to learn more about HIV and AIDS, Hyacinth has led New Jersey’s response to the epidemic. For more than 30 years, we have been an integral community partner to the development and implementation of public health policies and services. We have worked to ensure that all New Jerseyans have access to anonymous and confidential testing, that those at risk for HIV have access to information and programs to protect themselves from infection, and that those living with HIV/AIDS have access to the best possible medical care and treatment. Today, we provide client services in 7 offices in 6 metropolitan areas of New Jersey, as well as several statewide services. It is our intent to make the next 30 years the last 30 years of the AIDS epidemic. Please join us in the fight to end the AIDS epidemic.

At Hyacinth Foundation, we know that health is more than a diagnosis—it’s about caring for the whole person.

For people living with or affected by HIV, mental health and emotional well-being are an important part of overall wellness. Today, we’re recognizing the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels supported, heard, and valued.

Let’s continue to break the stigma, encourage open conversations, and remind one another that asking for help is a sign of strength. 💚

Mental health is health—and taking care of ourselves should never come with shame or stigma.

At Hyacinth Foundation, we know that mental health and overall well-being are deeply connected. Whether you’re navigating stress, anxiety, grief, a new diagnosis, or simply having a difficult day, you deserve support, compassion, and a safe space to ask for help.

This week, we’re reminding our community: you don’t have to go through it alone. 💚

Check in with yourself. Check in with someone you love. Take a break when you need one. And remember that reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Hyacinth is so proud to work with our wonderful legislators who understand the work that we do, our importance to the community, and most importantly, to our clients. Thank you to Senate Majority Leader M. Teresa Ruiz and Assemblywoman Assemblywoman Shanique Speight for visiting our Newark clinic on Monday to learn even more about our work.
