The Cape Verdean Association in New Bedford is in deep sorrow of the presence of ICE in New Bedford that has violated the humanity of the residents of our immigrant communities and has traumatized our entire community.

In recognition that the safety and wellbeing of our residents should be the top priority, we are canceling the Autumn in the Park event that was to take place at Island Park on October 10.

CVANB stands in solidarity and respectfully acknowledges those impacted by the actions of ICE in our community. We also thank our community partners who are working diligently to ensure all those impacted are receiving the support that they need.

Our community is strongest when everyone feels safe, welcome, and valued, regardless of their immigration status.

Today,September 12 marks the 102nd anniversary of the birth of Amilcar Cabral. We honor the man who not only fought for the liberation of Cabo Verde but also saw the future of possibilities that could be achieved by the people of Cabo Verde. Everyday we honor his legacy by continuing to fight and uphold freedom, equity and humanity.

Cabral
