In a four-hour cleanup on a 91-degree day, 43 volunteers removed 963.7 pounds of debris from New Bedford’s Palmer Island in partnership with Be the Solution to Pollution, with support from local groups and sponsors.

What a wonderful Sunday! 🌴 Members of the Nautical Whalers had our fins to the left… or was it fins to the right, on Sunday,June 14, 2026, to help serve our community at a fantastic BBQ hosted by the Dinner at Church group from St Andrew’s and Grace Episcopal Churches in New Bedford.
We love giving back and supporting our local community! Huge thanks to everyone who came out to lend a hand and share some smiles. And, to sing a few Buffett tunes ! 🍔🌭☀️

Some people say there's a woman to blame, but we know it's just the plastic and marine debris washing ashore! 🌊

On June 13, 2026, the Nautical Whaler crew decided to change their latitude and their attitude, heading down to Palmer Island for a beach cleanup sponsored by Operation Clean Sweep & Be the Solution to Pollution. instead of wasting away in Margaritaville, we spent the day working to make the beach a cleaner place. By noontime , over 120 pounds of trash was collected and removed from the beach. 🏝️

We traded our frozen concoctions for trash bags, combed the shoreline, and left the beach a whole lot cleaner than we found it. Growing older but not up, and doing our part to keep the ocean blue! Mother Ocean, she's a always a lady, and we're just trying to treat her right. 🌊🦜🌴

Nautical Whalers joined Operation Clean Sweep today at Palmer Island for a beach cleanup. There still time to join!! This event runs today, June 13, until 2:30. Next cleanup is on June 27.
