Our Co-Founder, Enrique, didn’t start drumming until after 50, during a season when he was in need of something to help me heal and steady his mind. Drumming became part of that journey. Giving focus, peace, and a way to breathe again.

Happy October S.T.I.X. family! Did you know that we have free classes for all ages every month? This month we're putting on Intro to Music Reading Part II.

If you're looking to take your music reading skills to the next level, this master class is for you. Deepen your understanding of rhythm patterns, rests, and dynamics while applying reading techniques directly on the drum kit. This is a completely hands‑on experience designed to strengthen musical independence and flow. This class is open to all ages and drummers of all skill levels, so come learn with us!

Meet Lyanne, a Jacksonville local and family of S.T.I.X. Academy.

One of the biggest things we focus on here at S.T.I.X. is creating a community where everyone feels welcome! We want to be a place where our younger generations, veterans, and any other music lovers can come to hang out, meet other like-minded people, talk about what's on their mind, and of course, get the chance to work on their drumming skills. Part 2 of breaking down the drum kit: the cymbals and the kick drum.

Every part of the drum kit plays an important part in making music, and here at S.T.I.X. we want to help break it down and make it a little easier to get started. The cymbals in the kit help to add dramatic accents to any song you may be playing, and getting to know them can totally change how you play and your overall understanding of music. That's right, Intro to Music Reading is back for September! We know there were a couple students out there who didn't get the chance to join us for Part I of this lesson, so we're putting on an Encore Session.

Join us this Saturday from 10AM - 12PM for a reintroduction into unlocking the language of music. We will be going back over the foundation of music notation, symbols, and timing. This is a completely free event and all ages and experiences are welcome! Plus, you'll be ahead of the game for Part II of this lesson in October. 🥁
