The Equity Alliance proactively advocates for African-Americans and other communities of color to have a fair and just opportunity at realizing the American dream. We are a Nashville-based 501(c)3 non-profit advocacy group that seeks to equip citizens with tools and strategies to engage in the civic process and empower them to take action on issues affecting their daily lives. WHAT WE DO

Monitor

legislation, engage in policy research, and hold our state and local elected officials accountable. Educate communities of color about the economic, social, and political issues and how impending legislation will impact their lives. Engage and Empower citizens to take action and make their voices heard. We resist, persist, join forces, call, write, petition, assemble, and most importantly, vote. Create alliances with individuals and groups in order to present a united front against any economic barriers that seek to marginalize, disenfranchise, or discriminate against people of color and vulnerable populations.

Y’ALL REALLY PUT THAT 💥 ON 💥 LAST NIGHT!

Black on Buchanan turned into a whole fashion show and we had to show y’all off. From the fits to the kicks to the accessories, everybody came outside looking GOOD. 🔥

The community understood the assignment, so of course we had to dap y’all up and give y’all your flowers. 🌹🖤

The South got something to say. 🖤🔥

Black on Buchanan was one for the books. Community, culture, music, vendors, and love all in one place.

Until next time, Buc. ✨

We shut the Buc DOWN today. 🖤🔥

Y’all showed up, showed out, and spent that money with some incredible local vendors. From the Vendor Village to the stage, every corner of Black on Buchanan was filled with culture, joy, and community.

Sankofa had us remembering our roots and making sure the babies knew theirs too. Nick Drake had us in a chokehold with the bars. Lotis Music reminded us we’re living in our soft girl era. Dem Franchize Boyz had everybody dancing. Meme The GOAT brought the energy. And Young Buck had the whole crowd rapping along, even bringing someone on stage and reminding us that the Buc belongs to ALL of us.

This wasn’t just a one off event. It was a love letter to our community.

Thank you to every vendor, performer, volunteer, sponsor, and every single person who pulled up. Until next time, keep showing love to Black businesses, Black art, and Black culture.

🚨 NASHVILLE, IT AIN’T OVER YET. 🚨

The final vote on Metro’s budget is here, and our communities deserve to be seen, heard, and counted.

Join The Equity Alliance as we Pack the House for a critical Metro Council meeting where councilmembers will vote on the substitute budget. If approved, it will become part of the amended Metro budget, impacting the resources and services our neighborhoods rely on every day.

📅 Tuesday, June 16
📍 Historic Metro Courthouse
🏛️ 5:00 PM

Decisions about our schools, housing, transportation, public services, and community investments are being made. Let’s make sure Metro Council sees a room full of residents who are engaged, informed, and paying attention.

Equity Alliance volunteer shirts will be provided. If you already have a black Equity Alliance Tennessee shirt, wear it proudly.

This is our city. This is our budget. This is our moment.

Show up. Stand together. Pack the House.
