In April, members of the Our Kids staff and board took part in a Day on the Hill for the first time, engaging directly with lawmakers at the Tennessee State Capitol.

We discussed the epidemic prevalence of child sexual abuse and shared the impact of our work across Middle Tennessee. These conversations are critical to ensuring that elected officials understand the essential nature of our expert medical services.

We are grateful for the opportunity to elevate the voices of the children and families we serve and to help strengthen awareness around the urgent need for continued support and resources.

Thank you to everyone who represented Our Kids and our mission so thoughtfully and passionately.

Governor Lee has proclaimed April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Tennessee. Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment. Together, we can create healthier families and communities by recognizing the signs of abuse, supporting prevention programs, and standing up for the children in our lives.
